Me too, but it did contain the information that they will not be selling FD-ISR, but will continue support for those who have the program.

    twl825,

Re-read the third paragraph of that email. That's where mine said they were no longer selling FD-ISR.

    Greetings All,

Many apologies to all of the loyal users of the ISR technologies for this surprise. We are in contact with Raxco now to find out what the status is with this reseller. Please note that Leapfrog Software is going strong (very strong) and this does not mean the end of our technologies.

When my head stops spinning, I will post our officiall something in the forums. Never a dull moment, ehh?

    Stay Tuned!

    Todd,

I would like to ask that if support and our maintainace agreements come to a halt with Raxco, will Leapingfrog honor them? Short of my router, firewall and AV, I consider FD-ISR my most indispensable software. Saved my bacon more than once.

    Todd,
At present have a serious issue with FD which Raxco has been attempting to deal with for 10 days now.

All I want is an assurance that someone will get it working.

In one of the emails I got from Raxco they said that "support was a little backed up at the moment"

    Greeetings All,

At this point, I just don't have those answers. I will let all of you know once I have some answers.

Just had an email from Raxco which said that they will continue to provide maintainance and support for another year.

Also support is still backed up with work. (now I'm worried a bit)

Also any further suggestions for features or improvements to FD are to be sent to Leapfrog.

Not surprised, especially with the release of their new product.

Anybody else think that the best way to not have current users purchase their new offering is to tell us about it at the same time that they yank the rug out from under us on another?

Angus 49, Thanks for the heads up. I like the way they snuck in the sentence after the pitch for the new software. I guess you can tell I don't read the small print. :p

This is a sad day. I love Leapfrog's product and one couldn't ask for better support than that provided by Raxco. There are some softwares that I didn't mind seeing go for various reasons (i.e. couldn't stand the developer), but seeing this one go literally brings a tear to my eye.:'(

I guess at this point all we can do is enjoy it while it lasts and hope that there is a little honesty and openmess going forward with those of us that own the software (unlike others we've seen leave).

You can take my FirstDefense away from me when you can unwrap my cold dead electronic fingers from around it!

    :ouch:
    What a crashing disappointment.
Had such a good experience to date with RAXCO: part of what got me to buy PD as well.

lol: 2 hours after this e-mail announcement I got e-mail from HorizonDS informing me about Version 8 of RollbackPro. heh: strange coincidence.
( I purchased V7 some time ago and just never used it after finding FDISR.)

I hope this works out OK one way or the other, sounds like Todd is a bit suprised as well. :doubt:

The Raxco version of this soft has been a great tool to date.
Dont want to have to rethink rock solid recovery/testing strategy again :(

    LOL @ Acadia.

Nothing lasts forever, so I consider this as normal. I keep on using FDISR until I find something better.
The software landscape changes constantly, old softwares/ideas die, new softwares/ideas are born.
If FDISR would disappear in the future and that won't happen, if the developer takes care of the future for his software, I have to find another solution and that's it, maybe less good, maybe even better. :)

    Tony,
When you say BootBack is "the same" software as FD-ISR, are you saying it's developed by Leapingfrog or that it is a program with the same functions? I wouldn't like the fact of having to shell out another $65.00 to buy the same program I have.

Raxco's FirstDefense support pages advises against the use of Registry cleaners.

The new Raxco suite contains a Registry cleaner.

    Hmmmm......

Hmmmm, this new suite also defrags constantly in real time, something that also interferes with FirstDefense, correct?

Peer-ISR is also a clone of FirstDefense-ISR, just like Bootback. AFAIK there are only three of them and once I've read that all three are the SAME, except the price and logo/titles. LOL.

Look at the screenshots and you will recognize FDISR immediately.
It's very easy for a programmer to change the layout of each screen, even I can do this.
    This clone costs $149. LOOOL.

Just for the record, this forum is for Leapfrog not Raxco. It's just most of us have dealt with Raxco

For now I see no reason to just wait calmly and see what happens. Last time I checked software is still working.

Hi, folks: From what i have read so far. Raxco pulled out FD-ISR from circulation, it is their own decision, not LeapFrog's. Am I right that FD-ISR is a privately packaged product from LeapFrog exclusively for Raxco ? Then Raxco can do anything in their power to shapen up their business profiles. Perhaps the other two clones are cutting into their turf and LeapFrog just sits on side sideline refusing to do anything. Therefore business decision comes to play. I will not be surprised to see another similiar product as FD-ISR made by someone else(if Raxco can find one) to replace it in near future. And of course, this time around, Raxco wants something to protect their turf from developer. Business does not need any headaches, it wants results and profits. Period.

Not sure, but I did wonder against using Diskeeper for this reason. Looks like Perfectdisk is taking a leaf out of DK's book, and I wouldn't be surprised if version 9 has this feature. And yes, v9 is on the way, according to their blog.

Greetings Folks, Ok, here is our official response. This should ease your concerns. -Todd

    A message from Leapfrog Software's CEO;

There is obviously some confusion out there regarding FirstDefense-ISR, Raxco Software, and Leapfrog Software. I hope this posting will set the record straight. Raxco's CEO and I have been discussing their intent to drop the ISR product for over a month. Our last meeting was in Japan two weeks ago, where Todd and I learned that this decision was made firm and was to be be tied with the launch of a newly developed Website at Raxco. Although we were aware of their decision to discontinue reselling FirstDefense-ISR, we were not aware that the Website was launching today.

Raxco is an owner of Leapfrog Software and early in our formation, they assisted us by developing a critical part of our technology, and were the first to gain recognition (and credibility) for FirstDefense-ISR.
They were the only reseller granted a license to use our FirstDefense-ISR registered trademark. We agree with Raxco's decision not to promote FD-ISR since Raxco intends to focus only on the vendor side of their business (PerfectDisk) rather than the reseller side (FD-ISR)

Raxco will continue to provide their usual outstanding support service to all FD-ISR customers, and will provide periodic updates for those customers who purchased maintenance contracts. We are totally behind that effort.

As for Leapfrog Software, we do not sell our product to end-users because our focus is to continue providing customized/OEM applications of our core technology to our worldwide base of partners. This business choice is no different from the one recently made by Raxco. Stay tuned for a link to another reseller, which Todd will provide shortly. I hope this helps to remove the confusion out there, and thank you for supporting FD-ISR technology.

    Bob Altieri, CEO

Bob Altieri and the always helpful Todd,
Thank you for the clarification. I respect the fact that you took the time to communicate with us. You guys are a class act all the way.

That being said, I want to add that I went to Raxco's "new" website and viewed their videos. Something about the marketing hype seems cheesy. It reminds me of one of those "stop sign" software advertisements you see on TV. You know the software that does everything. Their CEO does the videos and makes a few obvious blunders along the way.

Raxco deserves the benefit of the doubt, but I must admit...it's tough to give it to them after seeing all that's happened.

I have to differ with your last sentence. I don't think they deserve the benefit of the doubt. They certainly did not consider the people here who just purchased FD-ISR, when they already knew they were pulling the plug on this product.
It seems like a grab the money and run scheme to me. :thumbd:
I think a little up front honesty would have gone along way.
Instead they hide the news in an e-mail extolling the virtues of some new product of theirs. Some bad judgement on their part? Definitely!
