Just got an email from Raxco saying that they won't be selling ISR any longer. It does say that they will continue to offer support and updates. I can't help but think that update support may not last much longer. :(

    Hi,

Just wonder what is going on with Raxco, I recently buy FD-ISR from them and now they won't sell it anymoreo_O What will happen with upgrade and update (I have paid for maintenance)?

    Thanks,

Yes, I got the same email (posted a thread about it as well). The email does say that they will continue to offer support and updates, but I wonder how long that will last. I would assume they would need to maintain it as long as they have customers who purchased maintainance contracts.

To be honest, however, I haven't been able to get a response from them recently even though I am under a maintainence contract as well.

    From Raxco:

Effective immediately, Raxco Software will no longer sell FirstDefense-ISR. We will continue to support the product, and you can continue to receive product updates from us.

Worrying due to the fact I have quite a serious problem with the software at the moment. I have emailed to ask how the plan to deal with my problem as it's been quite a while now since I could use the software.
Yes, I know it says support will still be given, but I would love to know why they are stopping as a reseller.

I havent got that email from them and I have had Raxco FDISR for three years o_O
I wish they would let us old customers download the latest (full) version so that it wouldnt be such pain to install it from scratch if you have a old retail version.

They might continue to give support but what kind of support? Will they still "break there bone" to find solution to problems with FD-ISR when they don't sell anymore the product and for wich the people assign to support it might have been reassign to other thingso_O

I would also like to know why does Raxco decide to stop selling FD-ISR?

Just did a customer service request form comment box to LeapingFrog about FD-ISR. I received a MAILER-DAEMON@web1.thna.net return:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at web1.thna.net.I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.<www@aztech-cs.com>:208.39.233.10 does not like recipient.Remote host said: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)Giving up on 208.39.233.10.

Now I'm wondering what's going on with the developers!!!

I was in shock when I got this email.

If you can't even reach Leapfrog that's a very bad sign.

    I can't believe this!

I just phoned Leaping Frogs customer support and of course got a mail box. I left my name and email address along with my questions. I'll let you know if any response if forthcoming.

I received the email just a few moments ago. They do say existing customers will continue to get support in the form of upgrades to the product. It's just they're no longer selling it to everybody else.

I spent the extra $13.99 for the extended maintainance agreement, but as with all things these are only good until they decide to stop support.
I would have liked to see Raxco's email a little less ambiguous, and given at least an estimate of a time line for "continued" support.

CDW used to be and maybe still are a distributor of FD-ISR, so if Leaping Frog is still producing, perhaps someone will still be selling.

I haven't received the e-mail yet, but I can't imagine why a company that is selling a product that has the market cornered would give it up. I'd like to be a fly on the wall to get the answer to that question. The only scenario I can think of is that perhaps Leaping Frog found someone else to sell it for less of a profit.

Hi, folks: In business world, this kind of event is not very healthy at all. Here is their official forum and remaining silence of their part is NOT golden. Reseller sends out news to inform customs, that means it is not in trouble, while Dev not answering phone calls at customer service desk does send out a mixing signal and is not very encouraging. Something is defintely out of control there. Perhaps someone lives nereby can pay a personal visit to see whether the door is padlocked? Hoping the better, let us pray.

Well, I received an answer from Todd (eventought I received an email indicated to me that my email was not delivered like previously mention)... It appears that they are in contact with Raxco to find out what is the status... He also indicated that he will post something in the forum (probably when he know more about the situation)! So let's wait about Todd...

Why are you guys emailing Leapfrog? It is Raxco that wont sell Leapfrogs Firstdefense. Remember Raxco is just a reseller, they dont make the software. I guess anyone who wants to buy Firstdefense can buy Bootback (if I recall the name right) its the same software afaik. And there is no problem installing the original Firstfense (Leapfrog) if you have a valid license from Raxco.
    Or do I miss something?

Seems like Todd of Leapfrog didn't know anything about this if the above comments about him checking it out are anything to go by.

    Sukarof,

Why would we want to buy BootBack when we already own FD-ISR and most of us purchased maintainence agreements. We are contacting LeapFrog for just the reason you mentioned...they are the developer. If developement has stopped and the usual vendors have quit selling, it's not a good sign.

This is the official support site and we've yet to have any input from LeapinFrog or Raxco.

However, if Software Pursuits continue to sell BootBack, there isn't a problem in that area as it is the same program albeit under a different name.
