No word that I have seen, stating it would be in KAV clones. I highly doubt if it would be.
Heuristic analyzer is in the file Anti virus module.
Yes, it is in the beta.

similar weight of Kaspersky on resources, scans take slightly longer if heuristics and rootkit scanning enabled understandably

those keys only work (legally) with version 1.x of the pss (personal security suite). any attempts to use it on kis 6 or later is a violation of the license (and also they are for readers of the german ComputerBild magazine)

Some of the main bugs are solved.
GUI of the popups changed. The popups are more clear

Do heuristic work in real time?
Are they included in all AV portions( web, file, mail).
Can it detect pre-installed rootkits ike RustokB when they load into memory( anyone tried!!).

yes, the heuristic analzer works with file av, it doesn't work with mail/web-av because in those cases the file isn't compleatly on the hard drive so you can't emulateit - like with a partial downlaoded file, you can't run it. (also it only works with executables).

no, that won't get detected, you have to perform a scan (which will perform a low level scan of the hard drive together with the regular scan). the pdm might block the initial installation of the rootkit however.

As I know PDM flagged once SSM as rootkit( hidden process) in the past so I thought it might catch pre-instaled rootkits as well. I heard SAS pro detects Rustok in this way!

if i recall the only ssm detection is kernel mode memory patch (keylogger). the pdm can't detect hidden drivers which are running, only hidden processes (for know).

Downloaded the beta this morning and it works great. Great job Kaspersky. Rootkit scanning and the new GUI are very nice. Yep, nice way to do a beta.

a very important feature for me, is the automatic shut off feature.
in the settings tab, there is a checkbox. if you put a check in that box, it will shut off the computer when it's done with the scan. does this new beta have this auto shut-off feature?

    Hi trjam
You are the Avira guru around here. How do you compare this new Kaspersky beta to Avira?

Had to remove KIS 7 till I get another gig of ram for my Vista box. I have noticed that with KIS (beta) loaded my HD is constantly working. I thought I could get by with 1 gig for this machine but I was wrong (atleast beta testing KIS 7). Switched to Avast and Prevx (beta for Vista) and all is quiet.
When the second gig of ram gets here I'm going to put KIS7 back on. Might leave Prevx on there too just to see what happens.
