The change to the GUI sure looks promising and as usual Kaspersky is expected to deliver a top notch product which they normally do :)

Otherwise just look at the Kaspersky Forum. There you'll find some information on how and where to install

As always the caution not to test these beta's unless you have some means of system recovery. I remember a few beta builds of version 6.0 that did nasties to peoples system. Thats why it's a beta.

GUI is really great. Better IMHO than the ESS GUI. Installed and seemed to run well except when I went into OE at which point the OE response seemed more sluggish than under KIS 6.

An interesting point is that one of the longstanding issues for some with KIS 6 seems to have been cured/resolved; namely the missing Anto Spam-related buttons in the OE toolbar. They are back with the beta installed.

All in all an excellent effort.:D

    @Baldrick
I totally agree. For a first beta it looks good and works great.

KIS7 has added heuristics and keylogger detection.
From what I understand, improvements where made to anti-hacker and the firewall. I'm sure others here could get more technical then I can, or check out the Kav forums:

Been using the beta a few days now and I am very impressed
Still very light and has been running great for me.
I thought KIS6 was very good. This one is going to be awesome!!

What I really want to know is how good the heuristics are and how it works. If they are gonna use it alongside the proactive defense, I might as well not even look into KAV beta 7, I didn't like the proactive thingi when I tried it awhile back:thumbd: But if it's anything like the heuristics in Nod32 or Dr. Web in the way it works, I just might look into it.:D

I am looking forward to trying it, and want to make my 3 year KIS (systweak) license useful. o_O :D

I do really hope it is stable. I also have a 2 year KAV license with only about 4 months gone.
Don't you think I want KL to work and be stable??

No official public tests have been carried out on the new hercustics, i think IBK (Andreas) from AV-Comparatives.org was going to make a press release but i read this a while ago, so not sure if it still stands.
I love the ProactiveDefense module, one of Kaspersky's strong points i thought!.
Its normal hercustics, the one where it automatically notifies you of suspicious files or anything else, not a HIPS/BehaviourBlocker so its not like the ProactiveDefense module

Don't forget the parent control. Also V7 protects against more leaktests :D and there is a new rootkit scan.

Ah, yes, the parental control. Totally forgot this one.
I did not install with the package so it slipped my mind.
No need for this one. My son has his own computer and my cats haven't figured out how to use this one yet! LOL
Your right, there is so much that is new. Still trying out it's different features.
And still running like a champ.

i hope they make further improvements to the GUI,ht option and scan progress boxes are from the previous version.....which was quite a dampner....i hope they have plans to replace them with new UI as well...

The beta works flawlessly here, and new functions are very promising.

That's pretty good considering that everyone says that Kaspersky is heavy on memory usage. Avira Premium is running about 6.5 mg with four processes.

I'm trying to read about the beta in the Kaspersky forums and that url is taking quite a long time to load.

Now that I've been running it for awhile, and made all the changes to the settings, it's been running between 12 and 14k. Which to me is still very light.
You have to consider the usage by others.
When I tried Avast: 16,000k, Comodo firewall: 25,000 and SuperAntiSpyware: 35,000.
KIS7 and Avira Premium are extremely light in comparison for the features they are running.

    Yeah, right.

KAV's heuristic is definitely going to be good, maybe the best in China, but making claims like that (by E.K.) can be liable to backfire really hard. Now let's see who barks the loudest....:D
About this beta, overall it looks very good. Definitely one step forward for Kaspersky. :)

Hmm...Is there any statement on whether the new heuristic engine will be included in KAV clones or not? Is the new engine included as part of the bases, or is it a integrated program module? o_O

And is the new heuristic engine included in this beta?
