Just read about this today and i did a brief search on forums but found nothing. It is free. Anybody tried it yet
? I wonder if it can be used against malware or to uninstall legitimate softwares at least, just like total uninstall.
I found a screenshot as well. Still I did not try it.

Looks interesting, particularly the "trash a pc" link on the website.
What bothers me is that the forum is a dead link.

The site states that you can uninstall anything that is installed after you install Spyberus.Anything pre-existing is not covered.

Hi, folks: I went to other forums and found out this app is very much in its beta form, resembling a thin child requiring baby walker to walk. In addition,a serious question remains; is it an anti-malware app or simply an app uninstaller, still NOT very clearly spelled out by developers. If you like to test it, I would strongly suggest to do it with your testcomputer only. Its version 1.0 may be available within one month and could well be a paidware.

    Thanks for the info Perman,

Taking that into account,I think I'll pass on beta testing Spyberus.

It's fantastic software. It is both something that will keep your computer clean, such as Total Uninstall or the like and something to keep your computer secure such as a HIPS. It is free because it is in beta and I don't know what (if anything) they will be charging home users once it is up, but it is rather solid so far. I did have a few problems with it when installing security software and do not recommend it to someone looking for a rock solid security solution.

The only problems it has caused me are having to uninstall it, it did no harm though and the features are excellent. It monitors everything automatically and displays installations in groups of the websites they came from or the applications that spawned them. They aren't very clear on the protection it provides yet and there isn't really any options for the sort.

After reading this thread, I D/L'd and "tried to install" Spyberus. Seemed to install fine until the re-boot. Started getting pop-ups "no access to config. file" and a few others, I forget what they were exactly. I tried re-installing over itself, but it just said "Do you want to install Spyberus on your computer?"
Clicked OK and then nothing :(

Then I tried to un-install, what a horror. After the pop-up "Do you want to un-install Spyberus from your computer?" Click OK. Then another pop-up stating that it must be removed from |Control Panel| |Add / Remove Programs| Geez, that's what I was doing. Tried Force un-installing it w/ Super Un-installer, still NG. Wound up reverting back to a previous SnapShot w/ FD-ISR.

App seems to be more trouble than it's worth. For me at least.

    hth someone,

Something I noticed recently is after using the repair feature, the uninstall feature will not recognize that you are uninstalling from the add/remove. I think you can close/open the add/remove window or reboot. I am sorry you had troubles with this software, but it is beta anyhow.

Hope you don't mind me butting in here, but thanks for giving our program a try.

Perman, you're about half-right:) The version which is currently available to the public dates back to April and I am very, very anxious to see it taken down so people can see what we've done during the summer. Honestly, if you don't have a test machine available, I'd wait a week or two for our next release. The latest builds are very solid, but we don't want to fall into the "release now, patch later" trap, so we're giving it additional QA.

As for the product being paidware, I doubt that will happen for the foreseeable future (at least for home users). If I had to guess, the client version will probably always be free.

These uninstaller weirdnesses are not familiar to me and I'll be sure to look into them before the next release. If you can, try booting to Safe Mode and uninstalling from there - there can be some quirky interactions of the uninstall process and our driver-level protection. I also suspect it might be an interaction between us and the other general-purpose uninstaller you're using.

If you guys want more specific help, email support@robotgenius.net and one of the more technical guys can talk to you.

    Thanks,
    Brian

Thanks to all you brave souls out there who have been willing to give Spyberus a try. We at Robot Genius are doing our best to try and create a problem-free product that will help ensure protection for you and your computers. That being said, it has come to our attention through this blog, that under certain circumstances there may be a problem uninstalling Spyberus. We have gone to great lengths to make it difficult for malware to circumvent our protection scheme and in doing so, it would seem that our own protection is biting us in the rear. From what little detail I've been able to glean from these postings, the problem actually occurs sometime during the install. This is indicated by the "popup" messages that were noted in other postings. Our uninstall process expects the product to be fully functional when invoked, and will likely fail if it is not. To those of you who have had this type of problem (or any other), I would like to ask that if at all possible, you try again and send us more details (exact wording of messages, etc.) as to what unexpected behaviors you may see.

Additionally, the following information would be most helpful:

    - The contents of the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RGProtect"
    - The file "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Robot Genius\RgStatus.log"
    - System configuration (OS version and Service pack)

We really want Spyberus to be a world-class product and with your assistance I'm sure we'll get there.

    Thanks again for your help,

    Brian Levantine

A new version has been released today. It now has a slightly improved user-interface, offers the ability to allow certain programs to do DLL Injections, etc. and more.

Sheeze :ouch: Did you read that whole page and especially the notes from those poor guys who got their PC's bit pretty hard?

Even the name sounds like something to be avoided to me. Spyberus? Um well.

wow i just noticed that now ;)

the thing is, some of the links on their webpage doesn't work. if they have such a sloppy approach to their webpage, God only knows how unreliable the program is. shame though, it sounds pretty cool.

    Hi,

I also tried it months ago. I liked the name (with a reference to Greek Mythodology). On the simple PC (wife) it worked flawlessly, on the complex PC (my son who uses all kinds of game related chat and internet group speak programs which do set global hooks, access physical memory and do process injection), I had to reset the image.

This differences in PC usage is also the reason for using DefenseWall on the simple machine and GeSWall Pro on the complex one.

    Regards K
