Well I still like Blink but have returned to NIS with the addon pack. NIS runs lighter on my ststem and affords me all the protection I need along with WinPatrol and SpywareBlaster and Ghost Security suite.

 

Well, Lord help me, I removed SSM and my antivirus and downloaded Blink, and it installled without a problem.

I was surprised at how much more it offers than Neighborhood Watch.

Boot up time is twice as long as before installation, but once everything is up and running, I notice no slowdown at all. So far, I haven't see a reason to change any settings, but I installed it around 11 last night, so haven't really looked closely. Based on a quick check, it looks good as preconfigured.

I wasn't pleased with the vulnerability assessment thing telling me I have a bunch of weaknesses, so think I will ignore that and work on it later. Most of the weaknesses are in MSIE and MS security patches I haven't gotten and probably won't get.

Overall, just as with Blink NW, I like Blink Personal. Now, all I need to do is figure out how everything works and if any changes are needed.

 

Can anyone confirm this?

Hi, folks: I saw this thread, and mentioned it to my friend, who is a d/l junkie, likes to try everything new. He installed it, after uninstalled other FW, AV and Prevx1. Was a smooth sailing until this app took out his virtulization app, which was no longer functioning after that. It is a very powerful and deep-hooking app. My friend has to give up other good and popular apps for this one, including shelving prevx1. I think he has made an unwise choice there, especially why would it cancel out existing virtualization app? Just beyond me.
Its conflict issue w/ many popular apps may hinder its ability to be a realiable -day to day- security app. IMO

 

Your post made me realize I hadn't checked Powershadow since installing it. Works fine, thank heaven. If it didn't Blink would go. As you said, one shouldn't have to give up other favored apps, although I'm pretty sure Blink mentions disabling or removing all other similar apps such as HIPS, antimalware, etc prior to downloading, although virtualization software is something else entirely.

I really like this Blink Personal, but I'm not willing to give up what I have and use for it.

 

Does anyone have any issues running this with NOD32? Do it work with any anti-virus programs that are already installed?

Lu Chin, Blink Personal comes with an antivirus software. In fact, if I recall, it recommends uninstalling any other security software to prevent possible problems. The antivirus is from Norman.

If you want to keep NOD and still try Blink, you can try Eeye Digital's Neighborhood Watch, which is free. It doesn't have the antivirus but does have most of the other things. No problem with NOD using Neighborhood Watch.

I had Blink NW for a while and liked it.

AOL offers same deal , difference is aol uses mcafee products in the suite.
