A question to our members.......Eye Digital Security is offering a free internet security suite for 1 year. Includes Firewall, Antivirus,Antispyware. Can some of our members provide input on this company and their softwareo_O? Here is their web site for your review and would appreciate your comments on this software:)

But why only for United States and Canada?
Is this company national-centric or something like that?

They do use Norman Antivirus, and I read somewhere that it is improving. I used Blink Neighborhood Watch not too long ago and it installed easily and ran well. High memory usage around 60MB didn't seem to cause any slowdowns and the features were nice. This may well be a good deal and even though it didn't do well in Gizmo's Test of HIPS software, I still see that the Gizmo's website http://www.techsupportalert.com/best_46_free_utilities.htm#8 has Cyberhawk as it's pick for the best free HIPS, but lists Blink Personal as it's second choice and apparently picked it over WinPatrol and Prevx. I'm not sure about that test myself, but you be the judge. Anyway I believe this has to be a tempting offer to some of us here in Wilders, but with all the other good free software out there now, it may also be a tough one to decide on taking.

    I have used Norman.
Norman's sandbox is something I have no idea what it is.
It was not anyways what virtualized sandboxes are about in a context as normal sandboxes.
It was just an antivirus while I used it while having that "sandbox antivirus" feature.

    ...answering myself
maybe because of this taken from http://www.eeye.com/html/products/blink/neighborhoodwatch/index.html

"Blink captures attack information into event logs and, as you update Blink Neighborhood Watch™ Edition through our Auto-update feature, attack information is shared with eEye's Research Team to develop even better protection tools in Blink Neighborhood Watch™. Your privacy is protected as this data never contains personal or private information and is aggregated to abstract out even the source of the data. With this information, we are able to monitor the new methods and attack models that hackers are using to proactively protect you and your virtual neighbors."

It´s similar to NOD 32´s Advanced Heuristics and BitDefender´s B-HAVE.

I am useing the eeye Internet security suite and so far it is really running well. No slowdown that i have noticed. It does take a little longer for a full scan than some other av's but not really long enough to be to annoying. The only thing that is a little annoying is that when doing a scan it doesn't show any scanning progress info until it is finished. But the info you get after the scan is very detailed and useful. Unless something unexpected shows up I believe I will keep it.:thumb: ;)

I know that this is within the "Agreement" when you install,.. and Personally have no real issues with this if kept within the agreement,.. but,.. from the short time I had e-eye installed, without update, this firewall was connecting out repeatedly, at the minimal 1 time a minute, with a reset from the server(reset probably due to no info at the time).

I can certainly understand the need to gather such info,.. but still, personally find a need for this possible output to be defined by the user, not the supplier. IMHO

After a little testing, I found that you can make a rule and drop these connections. Blink Professional Edition trial installed does not seems to try such outputs at all.

From my location (UK) I am not allowed this download.

I would be interested in your gateway scans (if you have installed this firewall on PC, with monitor, low level ouput TCP/IP may not show)

For a while anyway. I want to give it some time and see what it is actually like after some real time use. :thumb:

I had eeye digital neighborhood watch on this computer for a while and took it off for something else. It ran good and I liked it, but I was in a try out this and that frenzy.

A few days ago, I tried to install it again. It told me I didn't have the right privileges or something (o_O) I'm the only one using this machine and the computer is no different than when I had it running before.

So, I downloaded NW again from eeye, got a new serial, and same thing. Not enough privileges.

I don't know whether to go through another download, but I would like to try this freebie. Eeye digital is a pretty well respected company.

Is 1 year license effected from the register day or from the day of installing?
