Portable Hardware Firewalls

Hi:
I'm considering a portable firewall (ZyXel perhaps) when traveling, vacations, etc. Anyone here have any experiences with these firewalls?

I looked into this awhile back and the Zywall looked to be the only legitimate one. There were a couple of others who's names escape me that hace been mentioned in these forums, but they were not ver configurable. It seems that besides Zyxel they were targeting the user that is computer illiterate. The Zyxel is actually pretty good and even supports syslog.

 

Thanks so much. I kinda got the same feeling. I have a Zyxel DSL modem with a firewall and a software firewall and it's been working great, but I've often thought about what to do when I'm away from my home and currently where I will vacation only has a cable modem without protection.

I use a Fortigate 60 hardware firewall and love it. The box also has Antivirus and IPS which is great since I have many computers on the LAN. I dont need to run multiple AV's since everything is caught at the box.

Found mine on Ebay for $400. The best 400 i have spent. I hate running too much security on my system since I thing in the end they will cause system instability. All I have been running for years is a couple antispyware programs, and thats it.

Yes, gateway antivirus is a great thing but you shouldn´t overlook host-based security.

 

The link you provided is quite interesting and I'm intrigued with the possibilities. It may be something I can use not only away from home, but at home as well. In my search, I found that Yoggie Security Systems announced their new "Personal" and "SOHO" versions at CeBIT on the 15th. Their Antivirus is Kaspersky, Anti Spam and Anti Phishing is MailShell.
