Nod32 Security Suite v3.0 Screenshots from cebit

I've not been a fan of suites either, but I get the feeling ESET won't dissapoint.

 

If it's done right and performs well... works for me. I don't want to deal with tech support from more than 1 company when it comes to FPs, compatibility issues, bugs etc...

I've been happy with Eset/NOD32 and I'm glad they stepped into this game finally. Hope they don't have blinders on though and look at the competition. Then improve upon what has been done with KIS and Norton recently.

I saw it live and it does not only look good, but it's also performing quite well and still a slim application.

While the firewall is an inhouse job, the spam module is a licensed component - but both integrate nicely into the suite.

Good job, eset!

One more thing, can you give the url to dowload this beta program? Though I don't like big suites, I can not wait to give it a try.

Maybe, just maybe, ESET IS different from other suite makers...

What they (eset) mean with 4 modules - antivirus, antispam, firewall AND ANTISPYWARE - is this a brand new module in addition to the NOD32's ones?

 

I think they mean the product has anti spyware capabilities, but it already has them. I don't think this is a new module, rather putting an emphasis on what the product protects against.

 

Whose ant-spam have they licenced?

I know the anwser to that. Dutch NOD32 marketeers wrote about it in a news letter 2 weeks ago, but the forum-boss will probably kick me in the ass again for mentioning it. But you may want to take a look at mailshell.com, they are offering an Anti-spam SDK ESET haven't officially announced anything about their antispam technology yet so it could not be true

If that is true, the antispam module will be very good. Grisoft uses the same technology with great success.

 

Most everything Eset touches tends to turn to gold, or at least it seems that way. I'm sure I'll be very happy with how it works.

 

Anyone knows how one get to betatest that new baby??

even grisoft uses mailshell's engine for anti-spam........
what i sincerely expect from eset is that they maintain the same ease of use without bugs which their customers are use to over the years....

 

If you take a look at the Mailshell website, you'll see that they offer two versions of their SDK: full and lite. While full offers more throughput and better protection by using additional techniques, the lite version seems to be much lighter on system resources.

It would be interesting to find out which version has been licensed by eset: Will they go for max protection or will they try to stay light on hardware resources?

Given the sys requirements for a decent Vista system, resources like memory should not be a problem in the future - but we all know that many users prefer NOD32 for its ability to protect a system with "weak" hardware.

 

Going by their previous record.. mail scanner for example, they have a slider to chose between speed and compatibility. They're usually pro-choice, if you will..

Wouldn't supprise me if they use the full version, and offer a few protection levels.

 

I bet it's the lite version. Most ISP's do major email filtering before you even receive it. Earthlink provides two-levels: Known Spam, Suspect Email. Known bucket doesn't even have to be perused. Suspect bucket needs to be perused to retrieve the valid ones you haven't whitelisted. So a nice low-volume client filter would be nice for clients.

Furthermore, since I adopted OpenDNS all the Known Spam has disappeared and is filtered by OpenDNS and doesn't even propagate to Earthlink.

 

This is trivial, but what about these grammatical issues? Otherwise, a terrific looking product.
