My computer is too crappy even for NOD

    I still say install as much RAM as it'll take. Always get more than you think you'll need.

    More ram is always better, but I think the OP should be fine honestly. I've seen a lot worse systems running Windows XP and NOD32 flawlessly.

    Clean up that harddrive, run a defrag in safe mode (Press F8 as the system is booting, before the boot screen).
