I got a new computer about a month ago and I am finally getting around to installing some good security software.
    So far I have:
    NOD32
    Ad-Aware SE Personal (free)
    SpyBot Search & Destroy (free)

I was just wondering what firewall is better then the XP one. I've heard Comodo is good. I don't mind paying for the software if it's going to be better the a free product.

    Thanks!

P.S. Just in case it matters, I have dial-up internet.

Comodo is one of the best firewalls out there and its 100% free.

Ditto. Comodo not because it's free but because it's good.:)

I use NOD32 and the XP firewall and it's a great combination in my opinion.

I really don't believe there's a better firewall than Comodo (for love or money)! ;)

Comodo's great if you want outbound protection as well as inbound. If you just want inbound protection, you could stick with XP's. Also, not to hijack the thread, but you might consider switching out AD-Aware for SuperAntiSpyware, a much more thorough and effective scanner.

I tried Comodo, but Look n Stop is more powerful and good too.

Easy and speed is better too. :thumb:

Go with Jetico if you want a light firewall.

Stay with the XP firewall if you just want good inbound protection with little, and don't feel a need for outbound protection.

I have always been a firm believer that malware should be stopped prior to entering a pc, so outbound protection should not be needed or relied upon, since bigger problems can emerge.

If you want more detailed and a more tweakable inbound firewall, then I would recommend CHX-I or Ghostwall.

However, if you want outbound control then, I would probably recommend jetico for a freebie, or look'n'stop for paid. These are both very light and customizable. Comodo may be good from the comments I have read, but I never have used it so cannot really comment on it.

    Cheers,
