    1. Almost 3 years and I'm a happy camper. Had no trouble making the decision to renew when my first licence expired.

    2. Mentioned in an article by a writer I respected and then I checked it out in various forums and comparative sites. Finally found my way to Wilders and lurked around for a while reading the posts from other users.

    3. NIS 2003 and when that became problematic (a couple of corrupt updates) I was ready to jump straight to Nod32. Tried the trial version for a month and then bought my first licence. Never even thought of looking back.

    4. Found it a bit of a learning curve to understand and set up the modules at first - even using Blackspear's settings. Once I was over that it has been 'set and forget' for the most part. Any queries I have had have been dealt with by other posters on this Forum.

    5. Had no real problems at all. I am a safe surfer and on the one or two occasions I have had an alert it was a good feeling.

I would love Nod32 to come with the highest security settings out of the box. That way I could feel happier recommending it to some of my friends/associates who just don't bother with anything they have to adjust or tinker with.

Keep up the good work, Eset! :D

I won the license in a Wilders competition, can't remember what the event was. It was for one year. That was about 4 years ago (maybe 5). I got hooked like all Nod32 triallers do and been using ever since. :D

AV-Comparatives.org test results. I was totally impressed.
    Kaspersky Antivirus
Loads quick, scans fast and light on system resource
Not yet. I have a bit knowledge about web surfing, never open a suspicious file or visit a site of dubious nature

Just my personal opinion: While NOD's highly rated worldwide, it could be even better if it has a built-in firewall and a registry monitor that intercepts malignant changes to the registry and also at the user's option, blocks unauthorised, remote access to the computer

    • How long have you been using NOD32 ? Since 10/03
    • How and where did you first learned about it ? Either via PC Mag or PC World internet article (A recent article by the Washington Post's "Computer Guru Blogger" states that he tried NOD32 and fell in love with it - recommends it -- nice to see)
    • What was your previous security product prior to NOD ? Norton 02, which had stated giving my Me system fits---freezes, boot-up issues, etc. Now works Flawlessly on New 'puter XP SP2
    • What was your first impression of it when you saw it ? Having only low-to-moderate expertise I "expected" to be a little initimidated, but this Forum and prior notes from articles made it quite a smooth transition.
    • Anything special that you'd like to add , threats that you have seen and only NOD32 (or plus only few others) finds: The Best Thing I can Add is that Amateurs Should embrace NOD32 and not be afraid of set-up issue, etc. Blackspear Plus all of the other Moderators have taken care of that . Have had Very Rare Viruses & False Positives because I Surf Safely so My Life With NOD32 is Rather Boring - It just Updates and Works!

I've been using NOD for approximately four years. Was using Norton. I was unhappy with its system performance as well as LiveUpdate.

I trialled NOD32 along with other antivirus programs. I am very happy with NOD32. It takes up very little system resources and runs problem free. The update process runs smoothly. This forum is a wonderful resource and the people here are very helpful.

By the way, my 82 year old mother has been using NOD32 for three years!!

    3. Was looking for an A/V that supported XP x64 Edition. Tried Avast, hated it. Tried NOD32, loved the way it works.
    4. Hey, this is working good.
    5. I wish their firewall was ready. I really don't want to use a different one because I'm afraid it won't uninstall correctly when I get my NOD32 version 3.

Personally, I only learned about NOD32 several months ago - so I'm still a new user. I had used several av products including stand-alone av products and also security suites on my home computer. For various reasons, (mainly inadequate protection, very heavy resource usage) I was dissatisfied. Amazingly (not really) every manufacturer's website that showed comparisons all showed opposite results to everyone else's results.

I then searched for av comparisons done by people other than those who make and market specific av products. *That's* when the NOD name showed up at the top of the comparisons. I tried it at home, bought it, and two months later switched my company's network over to NOD. As the IT administrator, one of the biggest bonuses for me what no longer having to listen to people whine, "why is this stupid computer so SLOW??!!" Those issues are gone. The other bonus is that now I know and can control what my antivirus is doing, as opposed to it dominating my system without me being able to have any significant control.

Used Nod on and off for a long time(not sure how long)Always used either that or Kav,Switched to Nod as my primary choice when Kav 5 was first released:-I hated it!(A too user friendly gui= not very configurable!)
Since then I use both products(on dif pc's)tend to use Kav on my main PC(don't know why!:-just feels a little more secure)and nod on the older"slower" ones because it runs lighter.Never had any real probs with either product, both are first rate

    1. About 18 months
    2. Here
    3. CA, AVG pro, Panda + others
    4. It matched BS extra settings that I had printed out

It took me sometime to trust NOD 'cause it was so light, but now I know that I have the best (for me anyway) and a VGood forum to back it up.
    Happy multi-license user
    Awaiting Cebit results;)

    1. I'm 10 days in to my free 30 day trial.

    2. Found it while doing general AV research - I think it was on Cnet where I first read about it.

    3. Zone Alarm Internet Security. Love their firewall, but have had many problems with their AV. With the disasterous realease of 7.0 and the nonfucntioning antivirus, decided to give Nod32 a try.

    4. Had read that it had a difficult interface for average users, and at first it was kind of wierd. But his forum and Blackspear's settings allowed me to set it up and forget it.

    5. I love this program. My computer runs so much faster and smoother than it did before hand. This forum is also terrific. I will definitely be buying at the end of my trial.

How long have you been using NOD32 ?

Since the middle of last year.

How and where did you first learned about it ?

I don't remember, I think I discovered NOD the first day I found Wilders, which was possibly through castlecops.

What was your previous security product prior to NOD ?

McAfee, which came with this computer.

What was your first impression of it when you saw it ?

Very impressed, I was looking for something effective and lightweight, and that's exactly what I found with NOD.

Anything special that you'd like to add , threats that you have seen and only NOD32 (or plus only few others) finds

I feel much safer with NOD than McAfee and would recommend it to anyone looking for a step up from other antivirus. As another poster said, it would be nice to have a NOD firewall to go with this. I'm using Outpost now but will be switching to LookNStop on my new pc.

How long have you been using NOD32 ?

    Since June 2001

How and where did you first learned about it ?

    From PC magazine review

What was your previous security product prior to NOD ?

    None!

What was your first impression of it when you saw it ?

    This is complicated.

Anything special that you'd like to add , threats that you have seen and only NOD32 (or plus only few others) finds

I look forward to an integrated security package from NOD32.

Having used NOD 32 for so long I accepted its performance, reliability and speed as normal.

I only had to look at the mess friends and colleagues get into with the big name packages to realise just how good NOD32 is.
And the strange thing is that they struggle on saying "Oh I've never heard of NOD32' or "What a strange name"
Well you can lead a horse to water ......

    1. About half a year

    2. Got it with hand-me-down computer

    3. Norton 2003

    4. Never heard about this product before so I started doing some research. I was very impressed with results. Also it was very interesting to me that NOD, while getting top marks from users, was almost completely absent in reviews done by major North American magazines.

    5. I found the interface to be quite nice but definitely overwhelming. Did not know, until I discovered Wilders Forums and Blackspear's settings, how to deal with program. That was the time when I installed trial version of Kaspersky - I liked the interface but it slowed my computer significantly so I returned to NOD.

    6. I had only couple of viruses which NOD picked up in spam mail and some spyware which was picked by other programs. The reason I use NOD is its unobtrusiveness and great support here at Wilders. I have found a lot of answers to my problems just by browsing the forums.

Read about it on a forum I frequent, gave it a go, loved it, paid for it and three years later I'm still running it. I love how small and powerful it is.

Before that I ran free clients like Avast or AVG.

I recommend NOD32 to anybody who is looking to buy anti-virus. I usually steer them clear from Norton, et al. ;)

Been using NOD 32 for 3(+) years. Learned about it during time spent on the now-defunct Net-Integration forums. Most of the members raved or otherwise indicated that they used NOD. I bought a subscription and have never looked back. My first thought about NOD was that all the different "profiles" were confusing, but I eventually got it figured out. Previously, I used Norton AV, but it was slow and had a tendancy to crash... The only virus ever detected on my computer was one that my MOTHER attempted to download from one of her office computer files during a visit a couple years ago! NOD did its job. I am thankful for such a fine AV product. CHUCK :thumb:
