I'm a registered user of Dr. Web. I'm beta testing the new anti-virus engine right now. Beta-release number 4.33.44

Like a few others I voted "other" as in I'm running No AV. If I were to use one, I'd run one of the free varieties.

Why do they assume that I am using any AV Software?

I don't use it and don't need it with all the layers of defense I have on my computer.

Right now I am using Nod32 and I love it but it is a trial version and it is about to expire... Right now I don't want to give 30 euros so I think that I will switch to a free solution like avast or antivir... But If none of them satisfies me I will buy a license for nod...

Having never seen a real live virus I wonder how we Know it's good ? I know that "tests" show that this or that program is better if attacked by countless nasties but in the real world, as someone who doesn't run with an on-line AV I have to wonder how many are using NOD 32 and actually finding that it stops anything ? or put another way how many are assuming that because they are virus free that NOD 32 or their favorite AV has something to do with it ?

I'm currently running ESET's Smart Security trial, so I checked NOD32 (which is an integral part). So far, I really like the AV part, but I'm finding the FW just fair (doesn't hold a candle to ZA Pro) and its AntiSpam is poor).

Still none, after six months living without AV-scanners, I ran all advanced+ AV scanners and they didn't detect anything, except a few false positives, like ShadowProtect and IZarc.
There is nothing to detect in a fresh installed unused system partition as long you install legitimate softwares.

I'm not using AV, and so far I'm enjoying a speedy Vista experience.

3 months without AVs. As clean as a whistle, and real computer speed! You might ask, how do you know you are clean? My answer would sound very familiar: I can't be sure, no application will protect you 100%!

I'm using NOD2.7 on both desktop and laptop.
In face, I install it on pretty much all the PC's I manage (family desktop, business server, etc..).

I also do like Kaspersky though.

I've been using Norton (NIS) for years, but will look at Eset Security Suite and KIS when my subscription expires. (As I always do)
