As of now, I am on dial-up connection...firewall inbound and outbound slows down surfing....so I just choose to use the built-in Windows Firewall. It still does the inbound protection effectively. But if I have fast connection then I would probably choose Comodo Firewall...or maybe Look'N'Stop if have the money.

With multi-layered protections I have, I don't have to worry much. Surfing speed is more important to me. :D

my vote is for kerio (if it is version 2.1.5) because of application per port basis and light on resources (because im only have 512mb ram).

i also like comodo, easy to use but a little heavy on resouces.

if u dont mind betas, u could try Jetico PF 2.

Ghostwall also works, but its just a simple packet filter.

Thanks for that I will give it a look as I am trialling Outpost for 30 days, however it's doing a good job so far.

I was quite keen on seeing Eset's release of a 64bit Firewall but that's not arrived as yet.

    Kerio 2.15!!!

Been with it for a very long time and no reason to change. Tried COMODO, came back to K 2.15.

Also of note: KIS6 has firewall but Kerio 2.15 runs with it fine, no issues or conflicts. First time i ever run 2 firewalls simultaneously with perfect results.

Currently on commodo version 2.3.6, after having tried version 2.4 and found that it didn't work too well for my needs (that is, it didn't allow my computer to go into standby mode after a specified time).

I think comodo is pretty powerful and fairly unintrusive except I find its logs a bit confusing. In all it seems pretty good but still needs some work so I am tempted to give other firewalls, especially LnS and Outpost a try. Also might try kerio 2.1.5 on my father's computer which doesn't need such great protection because he doesn't do much except email and surf the web.

In the past I've used Norton Internet security (horrible), ZA free (OK) and ZA pro (used to shut down after a while, not good for a firewall especially while doing p2p.

    GNU/Linux with iptables makes a l33t firewall.

Though hardware firewalls are generally better for the firewall job. Not everyone can afford expensive hardware firewalls, or heck... not everyone has access to expensive hardware firewalls.

    My setup is 133735 :D
    OpenBSD + pf FTW!

But, all hardware firewalls run software, and the firewall they use is usually something like iptables, pf, ipfw, or some commercial solution. Also, a relatively old pc can serve as an excellent hardware firewall that easily matches up to most of the features of the more expension if you load up a *nix and setup firewall rules (or use a prebuilt distribution like pfSense, m0n0wall, ipcop, etc.)

    Cheers,

Outpost, Comodo, Zone Alarm and PCTools Firewall are good.

PCToolsFirewall better then Sygate in leak tests.
