I have the latest trial version of True Image Home installed.

When I go to do a full backup of Outlook (not express) email it crashes.

I'm only selecting a few folders (contacts, inbox, sent and important {stuff} ). It starts backing up OK but then crashes. Any ideas?

    Thanks.

Might be important to know if you're using Win2k, XP or Vista. Meanwhile try doing the procedure with the bootable Rescue cd.

Most likely because the PST and/or OST files are in use by Outlook. I always use the Rescue CD to create my images.

This should not matter. Even when doing file backups TI copies at the sector level and should not be affected by file locks.

Hello, sorry - Windows XP Professional.

Like I said this is the trial version so I haven't spent too much time with it, I'll look into a rescue CD - at this point I'm not following the idea but if I RTFM I might learn. Thanks.

    -----update:
A 'bootable Rescue cd' ? I'm reading the manual and this looks like it will help in a situation of recovery. I'm not following how this will help create a backup of my email. I'm sure I'm just being stupid but are you sure this is what I need to do?

Yes, after installing TI, start - programs - Acronis - TrueImage - Create Recovery Disk (something like that).

It gives you several options, 2 being creating a bootable CD and creating an ISO file. I create the ISO file, then burn it to a CD.

This creates a bootable version of TI. You see the same interface, but Windows is not running, thus no files in use, and a clean image.

Another option would be to close Outlook before creating the backup, but I believe you'll be pleased with creating an image via the recovery CD.

I don't see an option to back up Outlook from the recovery disk, only My Computer and My Data!!!

    So that doesn't really help.

Wiat. And PLESE let me know if I'm just being a total idiot here.

I don't want to recover anything, not yet anyway. I'm only trying to back up email like I backed up my files.

I launch TI, select BACKUP from the graphic menu, hit NEXT, select the MY EMAIL radio button. This is the proceedure that eventually crashes TI. The computer isn't crashing, just TI.

I did the above selecting FILES, and it worked great, just backing up email seems to be an issue. I'm really not understanding how a recovery disk is in any way concerned with my issue.

I'm sorry if I'm stupid here (I was born that way and have never recovered)

The email backup problem was supposed to have been fixed in the latest build, 4940, of ver. 10

OK, so this is a known issue? I'm glad I'm still on trial. Guess I'll keep looking. Thanks.

That's too bad, I really like this software.
