The new F-Prot made a great leap in heuristics and general improvements. I was wondering how F-Prot's new heuristics/detections/improvements compare to Bitdefender 10 heuristics/detection in general.

    Thanks.

to get an overview of that you should wait for the proactive test by av-comparatives in may

yes we have to wait, but i still expect BD's heuristics to be better

    Hi.

    According to IBK, F-prot 6.0 would have reached 42% ( adv + ) in the last proactive test ( November/06 ).

*Personal experience*: BitDefender HIVE is better....

For me I prefer to wait for independent objective test results.

Even then I wouldn't drop my current AV based on it dropping a rank or even 2. If I did that, I would be buying too many packages too frequently. If my current AV fell right off the list for reasons I can't predict that would cause a total re-evaluation.

There are other factors that are individual to your needs, for example you may have a need for In/Out email scanning IF the number 1 AV didn't have that power and number 2 did, well then I would choose number 2.

We tend to switch too much based on emotion the latest poll or survey, not wise IMHO.

Choose by logic not by emotion or even loyalty to a previous choice.

You mean B-HAVE ;) Though HiVE indeed sounded better...

    i prefer B-HAVE
    its telling malware to BHAVE!:D
hive stands for heuristics in virtual environment doesnt it?

From my experience, the proactive detection rate for these two are really close. But BD's heuristic has less FPs, at least in my amateur test.

HIVE has the same meaning as B-HAVE.

HIVE = Heuristics in Virtual Environment
B-HAVE = Behavioral Heuristics in Advanced Virtual Environment

    :D

Nope, it's not the same! Similar, but not the same.

perhaps Bit Defender yet... But IC will improve it :D

F-PROT will improve their heuristics, im sure.... IC wont let it go 'down the pan' but they are good anyway *lol* :D

but Bitdefender will improve their B-HAVE too, either way.. its all good for the users of both AV's that they keep improving to protect their users.

its sooo easy to say "this is better than that' but if they both do the job, who really cares? :)

    "dont worry, be happy"
