    I'm on my 4th try to back up 2 internal 250G SATA drives to a brand new external 300G Seagate. Nothing but tifs, jpgs and PSD files. I'm getting stuck (no progress after hours of little spinning arrow icon) at various percentages... "21% complete" currently (after 2.5 hours) and previously at 88% and 46%. I'm only trying to back up about 230G of data on an empty 300g drive... what is the problem? I'm using the "Wizard" and pushing what I think is all the right buttons.. Home V10, brand new download (yesterday)... getting tired of no results on this top rated application. Any suggestions?... t

    For those types of files (tifs, jpgs, psd) you're not going to gain much of a reduction in size by using a compression program like True Image to make a Backup Image. I would simply use Windows Explorer to copy them over to your backup drive.

    How does it behave when you select NO compression for your backup? Any faster ?

    If you are backing up to an internal drive, the backup should take only about 1 minute per GB at normal compression and normal priority, in which case the time it takes it mainly a result of data transfer speeds between the disks. However, if the priority is low, it will add substantial time so try setting it higher. IF the compression is on high, it will add substantial overhead so try setting it to normal.

    If you are backing up to a USB drive and it is operating under USB 1.1, then expect it to takes hours and hours to backup (USB 1.1 totally sucked for data movement. If it's operating as USB 2 (your MOBO and drive support USB 2 at USB 2 speeds) then it should take longer than an interanl drive but probably less than twice as long. Some things that say they are USB 2 compatible only run at USB 1.1.

    Hello toowhiteman,

    Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

    We are sorry for the delayed response.

    Please make sure you use the latest build (4940) of Acronis True Image 10.0 Home. To get access to updates you should first register your software.

    If updating does not solve the problem, please download the latest version of Acronis drivers, unpack the archive and install unpacked MSI package.

    If the issue persists, please collect some information to let us investigate it thoroughly:

    - Replace C:\WINDOWS\system32\snapapi.dll with the one from the downloaded SnapAPI archive;
    - Reproduce the issue and collect the log file without closing any application windows (including the error message windows if there are any). The log file will be created at C:\ . The name of the log file will be snapapi [date-time].log

    Please create Acronis Report and Windows System Information as it is described in Acronis Help Post. Please keep the external drive connected and powered on during the creation process.

    Then submit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

    Thank you.
