The author admits he never tested this on XP yet states it is supported. I would never use a program that an author claims compatibility but never tested. He is not even familiar with prefetching. Thus he has no idea if his program is undoing the prefetch layout optimizations. I would never use this program. Stick with the built-in Disk Defragmenter, Diskeeper or Perfect Disk at least the authors understand and test on the OSes they claim support.

    From the FAQ:
This is the best defrag I've used, free or paid. Of course, this is only my opinion.

Yes....and my pc got faster and faster...of course aside from its fast defrag optimize runs. ;)

I tried the others, but I fell in love with this defragmenter. Its very cute in size but very fast and reliable. :D

    Irresponsible

When the author was asked how JKDefrag worked with Windows XP Prefetching he replied:

Sorry but any reputable software developer tests the software on the platform it claims it is supported on. Since he is completely clueless to Windows XP Prefetching and whether or not his program interferes with the Prefetching layout optimization I would not use this program. That and he doesn't even own XP to test the program on.

Anyone who claimed this program improved performance I would be interested in documented reproduceable tests to confirm this.

I see that the 'Prefetch' issue is of major concern to you as indicated by the following thread:
    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=164867

AS I stated in my previous post, this is the best defragger I have used. It is only my opinion. If you are not happy with it, use another program.

Prefetching is a major concern to anyone who understands it as should the fact that the author of this defrag program never tested it on Windows XP let alone is familiar with the new optimizations in XP.

No I will not use it nor will I recommend anyone else use a program where the author is that irresponsible.

You stating this is the "Best Defragmenter You have ever used" is meaningless. How many defragmenters have you used? How have you tested them? What documented reproduceable tests do you have that proves this is the best defragmenter? How can it be the best for Windows XP if the author never tested it on XP and is not even aware how it affects the prefetch defrag layout optimization?

The Makers of Diskeeper and Perfect Disk have not only tested it they can give you clear answers to these questions.

I own a copy of PerfectDisk. I have also tried many others. Surely you're not saying I'm not capable of deciding which defragger I like the best? Where are your reproduceable tests? Have you tried JKDefrag?

You don't like this defragger. Fine. Great. Fantastic. Don't use it!!

I am not going to install a program on my operating system that the author never tested on it. As for testing, I am not the one claiming it is the best you are. I personally use Diskeeper 2007.

I agree, however it is a darn good point to consider.

I have windows xp sp2, FAT32 two 20gig each drives.... total 40Gig hard drives. Many have already used this program and I have used JkDefrag for about a month now and didn't experience any problems using it. ;)

I have already tried Windows built-in defragmenter, PerfectDisk, Diskeeper Lite, Diskeeper Home/Pro, PowerDefragmenter GUI w/ contig, DirMs, and O&O Defrag Pro and then back to DirMs, but then I found out this JkDefrag defragmenter and I liked the speed it defrag and optimizes my drives. And it has no running background services when its not in use. I am not comfortable using my pc when a defragger runs in the background like Diskeeper Home/Pro it just adds to system load and memory consumptions.

I also like DirMs, they have some similarities...small size, low system load, and don't have running services in the background. But now that I have found JkDefrag then this should be my choice. :thumb:

They are free and no spywares, cute fast and reliable and it has forums where u can post ur thoughts...

I would call them purebred defragmenters....does its job well for what it is and no useless flashy lights. ;)

There are a few options when run from the command line. A very nice freebie, light and simple.

And none of you have any idea if this undos the prefetch layout optimizations nor if it actually improves performance beyond what the built-in one does. I would not take a recommendation from anyone on a forum about a program that does changes to my file system. Since the author has never tested it on XP anyone making any statements here about it here is irrelevant.
