Initially tried the Beta F-Secure for aprox 5 minutes, Firstly I found no option to scan All Files, the option was greyed out,and could not be enabled, Secondly they still havent removed the annoying splash screen on Computer Startup, I'm Anti-Splashscreen,and wont install anything with a splashscreen that cant be disabled, and I found no option to disable it. Its a personal thing, Splash Screens annoy me :gack: and believe it or not splashscreens actually consume resources too.

Scan all files option will be available when you change protection from Normal to Custom.

I think a new thread should be made or you should pm about the f-secure's beta. I think this is off topic.

What surprises me the most from this test is how McAfee is still continuously going down hill with detection rates and also how AVG is improving quite a bit lately.

It's amazing how a company like McAfee with so much money and so many employees behind it cannot keep up with the smaller AV companies or even the free ones. I used to have a lot of trust in McAfee signatures, but lately I just don't know.

AVG on the other hand, I used to never have trust in their detections. Now that their detections have improved so much I may have to reconsider one day.

Thank you for all of your hard work, IBK. Great test as always.

I apologize for my off-topic posts but if you look all through this thread there are many violations. This has been a wild and wooly thread, lol.

    I agree with DaveD

Big strides for AVG. Microsoft on the other hand, has alot of work to do.

all major av's have gone down a percent or two....from last time....good to see that one-care has done well........and mind you its a pretty decent beginning by microsoft.....
my favourites-norton,avg,nod,avast have done really well......
    ***********************************************************
one wonders why kav, norton, mcafee, antivir, nod have gone down by 1-2%....although i am not worried as such........

Props to NOD32 and Symantec for 12/12 on detecting polymorphic viruses. I believe this is at least the second comparative Symantec has scored 100% detecting polymorphic viruses. I am awaiting the retrospective results for Symantec with its new behavior detection model.

F-Prot's improved performance is very impressive. Avira continues to shine.

RAV had A+ before it was bought by MS, so it is not a good beginning for OneCare imo.

    Exactly.

From the new version forward, things are not going well at McAfee.

hope they have a strong look at results...

F-Prot's done well overall, plus a very big increase in their polymorphic detection abilities just since September when the v4 was tested against v3. It shows how well a very small company can do if they have the right people and work as hard as they have. :thumb:

the ewido sure packs a punch since AVG Pro only gets standard award according to IBK.

IMO AVG Pro misses the advanced award by getting somewhere around 91 to 93% in detection rates. You need to have more than 93% in order to get an "Advanced" award, and the Ewido engine helps AVG in this regard. Still, 92% is also a pretty good score, and a definite sign of improvement from Grisoft. I hope they keep it up, as there definitely have been good results of their hard work. :)

    this forum is biased!
    interesting results for sure IBK,

id still like to know what dr.webs new engine can do on the same test, even if it is just beta, as dr.web has been 4.33.2 for agesssssssss now.

also, i dont quite understand dr.webs low score when compared to others, i find it misleading, maybe you can give a bit more info on it IBK.

my opinion is that DrWeb needs more analysts, they are still too slow to add malware.

Thanks , pykko , for reminding me to check the AV Comp site. Thanks IBK for posting them even earlier ;)

I noticed the results and I think all tested products have good detection rates. NOD32 has 96.71% and got Adv but to get Avd+ it needed 97%.NOD32 and Symantec managed to catch all the polymorphic viruses which is excellent . I think that the full results show that NOD32 is performing as good as always. :thumb:

AVG AM got good results , too , although the polymorphic part is not so good.vThis shows , in my opinion , that Ewido is good way to back up any product , inlcuding AVG.
