KIS 6 or Norton IS 2007

As you know I'm a big fan of Kaspersky.

But I've been reading a lot of really good things about Norton 2007. Which do you think is better?
Or maybe some components in one suite are better and some components in the other are better?

Please let me know your opnion.

 

Just my experience, but; NIS couldn't defend my computer (crashed) after about 2gb of "web traffic" . KAV has kept my pc in great condition even after about 180gb of web traffic.

ive not tried NIS2007, but i can say my experience with KIS 6 is great. the AV is exceptional (of course) and the firewall is not bad.

 

I see you are a big Norton fan?

Being a KAV fanboy as well, I don't get your point of sniffing on Norton!

 

N.I.S 7 has better anti-spam when compared to KIS also surfing the web is slightly less intrusive with Norton. KIS 6 AV feels a lot more secure when compared to NIS and indeed has trapped viruses which NIS has failed to detect. This time around will say that KIS 6 will always be my number1 but Norton has now shown a willingness to listen to its paying customers and are starting to deliver quality once again.

 

As I said I read a lot of good things about NIS and was curious about your opninions.

I also like ZASS 7 but it contains a few bugs to many.

 

I thought most peeps had left "ole heavy" NAV way back in the history archives by now.

Kaspersky IS6 is highly superior by a very long margin of course.

 

sorry,norton is not heavy on any decent pc......unless anyone is using p-II or p-I and 256mb ram...

my friend has a modest 512mb ram,1.7ghz celeron pc and nis-2007 is working fine on it....maybe u need to try it after all...

 

I have an NIS 2007 disc and I want to try it but not really sure, I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread as I also use KIS 6 on another PC.

 

I can only comment on my own findings, but when I installed NIS 2007, on my machine with a 1.53 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP, and 1Gb RAM, it slowed down my boot up time by about 400%. I didn't find the actual running of it had a great deal of impact on performance, once the PC was started, but a 4½ minute boot up was intolerable, so I ditched it after a day. I would personally recommend KIS over NIS every time.

 

I dunno if NIS has improved its anti-spam from when I tested NIS 2004. In that version, any email marked as spam had the address automatically added to a Block list. I didn't like that as there's no point to it as spammers routinely change addresses. What does NIS 2007 do now?

 

Looks as though they are building a centralised database of known spammers along with I.P addresses which is updated daily from what I can see

 

Try both, I beleive that either would offer you good protection. I use NIS2007 on one of my computers because it's simple to use and I got a good price on it. I have installed/uninstalled it MANY times to tryout different AV products without it causing any problems.

 

Tried NIS 2007, lighter than previous versions and didn't have any issues running it here for few days, but then went back to KIS... Better GUI and feel more protected with its PDM and lighter than NIS.

Well I bought NIS 2007 tonight and am putting it on the main and the laptop. Damn, never thought I would say it, but it has all the bells and whistles and is running and scanning great. Who would have ever thunk it.

 

Well I was sceptical.and after much deliberation,and the final decision being made by scattering several coins on my bed,and counting how many heads,and how many tails The result favoured in NIS 2007 Vista Compatible Edition I got so sick and tired of reading hundereds of reviews and posts as to who was better than who, that I finally decided to give Norton another go after 2004 & 2005 did not like my XP Pro, but This version is nice and snug on my Vista Ultimate,and damn its smooth and extremely low resources I did read that this was not so good with Trojan Detection & Deletion however, but so what!, Spy Sweeper will take care of those little buggers Anyway

 

If you've bought NIS, why do you have AVIRA by your name? LOL

KIS is not finding anything from this, but NOD32 got trojan.

You've established that from one test where it the file isnt even malicious
There is MUCH more to what makes a good AV rather than whether it passes TrojanSimulator or not (which isnt malicious, so there's no need for AVs to detect it)... Sorry, but IMO, your test to see what a good AV is SERIOUSLY flawed.

BTW, TrojanHunter is detected by Kaspersky's ProactiveDefenseModule

I have tried KIS and but settled on NIS 2007 simply because it works well with no problems. Once installed and setup you can just forget it as it will work just like you set it up with no intervention. I like that I don't have to keep tweaking this or that to keep it working like it is supposed to.

 

In a way it's very interesting that this discussion is even taking place.
NIS 2007 users hold your heads up high.

listen to what bigC has to say he offers deep insights into software fiddling in a very understated way.

The new version is rocking along here.
Maybe not perfect. So add a couple of extras; you will anyway.
