I get this log continuously after installing Comodo Firewall. Also i saw from the Task Manager that cpf.exe is consuming some cpu while this log is being created. I scanned for viruses and spyware, nothing found. Somebody please help! Sam.
Hello sam9879, Welcome to Wilders The log entries are showing inbound. These are showing as broadcasts, possibly from your ISP LAN segment?. The only possible problem I can see (from the logs), is if you have the "SSDP discovery service" active on your PC, as this will also broadcast, and possible compromise. You should stop this service (if enabled) within the windows services.
I have the same issue with you. Those logs create cpu spikes like every few seconds. Terrible when gaming. Don't even have SSDP service on. The cpu spikes created by logs are being investigated through their forums.
I mentioned to disable the SSDP service due to possible compromise, not for logging activity. If you want the logging to stop, then disable the logging.
possible compromise means?? Yes, that i know i can easily disable the logging but i just wanted to know that i am safe with these attacks or not?
I've got SSDP running. What does it do? I've also got Windows media player running should this be turned off, as I refused it access on Comodo (also refused Cyberlink which likes talking too)? Thanks
There are some windows services that be a problem for security. Patches have been released by microsoft, but as we know other holes do get found. For services such as SSDP, this service is used to locate and connect to other hardware (outside of the PC), which can be a major problem.
