Latest version of KAV?

    Hello,

    I have just recently purchased Kaspersky Antivirus. The version I downloaded from their site was 4.06 as I recall. I installed it and noticed a pretty big hit when some programs were starting. I went to the KAV forums on the Kaspersky site and saw a post about this and someone pointed out a link to version 4.5. I downloaded it and installed this version and everything seems to be fine now. But I wonder why if there is a newer version do they give you and old one when you buy the program? Then when I used the updater, did it not update to the new version? Or is the version 4.5 I downloaded not valid? Thanks in advance for any replies.

    Hi,

    The versions on the UK site www.kaspersky.co.uk are the latest - 4.5 as I uploaded them last week in response to a customer reporting an older version.
    They are also checking the .com site as well.

    Lisa,

    I just purchased the KAV 4.5 Personal and my download link was for 4.090

    I've emailed KAV support and also Element 5. This is unacceptable! Why are OLD files still being linked to?

    How do I get the 4.5 version......I know I can just download it directly but how do I get my license info into it?

    You can install 4.5 on top of 4.090.
    Then it will be updated to 4.5, and your licenceinfo will still be there.
    I read it in the UK Kav forum, and i did so with a trail.
    I thought that i was trailing 4.5, but mine version was also 4.090.
    Still i cannot understand why the updater dont tell you, that there is a newer version. Mine did not either.
    Perhaps Lisa can answer this.

    I could tell from the download link I was sent that it was wrong........at the end it was kavpers4090_eng1y.exe

    Should have been 45eng.exe


    I've emailed Lisa and KAV support and Element 5. I don't understand why this was not taken care of already since Lisa reported it to them a week ago! That is POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!

    I would say the problem is with Element 5 not updating the file on their server, not with KAV's customer service. They have been made aware of the problem from what I have read but still whoever is responsible at Element 5 has not updated so the latest version will be available for download. It is easily fixed by getting the file elsewhere, though still is annoying to some degree. But I learned a long time ago that it's not a perfect world and things happen from time to time ;)

    You don't have to tell me it's not a perfect world, I realize that. However, it was brought to their attention "several" days ago and yet the problem has NOT been corrected. How many people have purchased 4.5 KAV Personal and don't realize they didn't get the correct version? I suspect A LOT! Do you think that Element 5 pulled their records for everyone that has purchased lately and resent the correct links? I think not....although that is what should be done. This has been a major inconvenience to me and I don't appreciate having to jump through hoops, extract old file, get license out of it, cancel setup, then extract the new (correct) file, and copy the license to it. After the fact it was relatively easy, but I had to do a lot of searching to find those answers.....I suspect most people don't take the time, assuming of course they know they have the wrong download.

    the situation with Element5 was out of control for a few days, because responsible person changed its place of job last week, and currently there is another manager who deals with this problem. He told me today that version 4.5 will be uploaded in 1-2 days. Sorry for all the trouble. By the way, version 4.0.9.0 is not that bad ;).

    The UK site kaspersky.co.uk was fixed last week - the .com site has taken longer due to the problem Igor mentioned.

    Apologies to all concerned but as Igor also said 4.0.9.0 is still a commercial product and works correctly.
