    True Enough!

Power Shadow is not intended to replace either an antivirus or firewall, that's not it's purpose.

You can still be compromised real easy and info can be taken away with backdoors and all sorts of rude awakenings.

Keep, i repeat, keep your security programs just as they are. Just because users of PS can easily dump any previous sesssions/files/settings/url's on their end doesn't preclude the fact that if something does happen to sneak onto your PC, going out of shadow mode won't change or affect the outside world nor ever was intended to or ever could.

It only does that on your end. So be that as it is, PS is excellent for testers of malware or new software programs but cannot stop intrusions from entering your PC.

    That's why they make antispyware/antiviruses.

    Thanks Easter.2010.

P.S. I've edited my original post as the pertinent points have already been raised by others in the discussion. I'm only seeking clarification.

Good points about personal information still being able to be gotten in shadow mode. That's why I have antivirus, firewall, antispyware, processguard, snoopfree, and have RKUnhooker that I seldom use. That's a substantial reduction in what I used to run, thanks to PowerShadow. I can live with these few, though. I almost swapped processguard for SSM, but yankinNcrankin convinced me Processguard works.

Yes definitely keep your other security apps. I like to think that the programs I have on my box check and balance one another. Power Shadow most definitely makes doing stuff like testing new software and programs much easier than if I didn't have it, and I like the added layer of security it brings to my set up.

I also want to say thanks for the clear message that during PS shadow session I am as vulnerable as always, but the cleanup is exeptional when rebooting.

I know now how I will use it and it is a great addon to my security.

Q: If had two harddisks on my PC and ran one always shadowed with all internetrelated like e-mail, browser etc on that one and Office software on the other one would malware in shadowedmode-disk be able to compromise my "office"-disk - like "crawl over" to that disk? Might be a stupid Q but I am a novice user to whom such a solution sounded attractive.

    Best Regards

Just ran a free online Kaspersky scan whilst in shadow mode.

No probs and no baddies to report and all aspects of the scan are gone on reboot.

You have to use IE in order to use the service.

I let KIS6 run checks and s expected all is very well in Power Shadow mode, and even if not a simple restart is enough to cancel any actions that would take place, so that's plenty effective in meeting it's claims.

Very interesting Topic of discussions we've engaged in here and it's easily seen and proved from results that PS is quite adequate enough to make our surfing safely confident.

    Hi Wildersfolks,

I read that even strong defenders of GeSWall and DefenseWall are in to the free frenzy. Pitty I can not use it at home, due to the mysterious 'phone home' of this Chinese software (my wife has a grade 3 security rating, so her Home-PC protection must be okay-ed by her work).

Do you notcie any slow down of your competer while using it?

    Regards K

I've noticed no slowdown whatever using Power Shadow. In fact, if anything my browser runs a bit faster. That could be imagination on my part.

As for the phone home thing, I have it blocked with my antique ZA 4.5.xxx and PS runs without a problem. However, I understand the work related security issues.

I worked as a police officer in Los Alamos NM and had to have a 'Q' clearance which would allow me access to every part of the laboratory if necessary. This was in the days before home PC's were popular, of course. Still, I understand the possible restrictions.

There is no slowdown on this end either with Power Shadow, in fact it is faster because with Shadowsurfer it seemed i had to wait an eternity just to exit and reboot from shadow mode if it done it at all. Many times i had to manually press my reset button to escape and then oftentimes it was stuck in shadow mode which wasted a lot of time and made for nothing but concerns and frustration.

Power Shadow is freedom from those headaches finally, and the phone home thing? Just block the "outgoing" signal with your firewall and set that rule for it. It really is of no privacy concern that i can tell and at worse only a minor adjustment to make.

    Regards

Then you can do well to learn even more from one of our members here named herbalist who specializes particularly in 98's and like you would never part from it.
I also have 98SE as part of a dual boot system on my main table unit and from time to time still make good use of it. LoL

    Regards.

2003 Server is not on the list of supported operating systems for version 2.6, although it worked fine for me during the short period I used it. It is supported for version 2.82, however.

    Hello,

downloaded the evaluation version from their Website but after installing it, couldn't register it anymore. Also some settings are blocked from changing them.o_O

Is there another version around permitting to register it with the serial in this thread?

    Kind regards,

    PeterVO

You can only change settings or register when you are not in Shadow mode. For that you have to start your PC in normal mode. I personal have the PS boot startmenue disabled and my PC starts allways in normal mode.
