I just purchased a laptop for my wife.It is prelaoded with vista home premium. It has a 60 trail of norton---which i can't stand.

What about some of the resource friendly antiviruses like dr.web f-prot etc that are vista ready.

Correction to my previous post, only AVG 7.5 Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware products seem to be Vista ready according to their site. The Internet Security Suite is not Vista ready.

    Yes.

As far as I know, avast! is the first (if not, it's one of the first) antivirus that supports the new Windows Vista platform (both 32-bit and 64-bit builds) for a quite long time.

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-antivirus-and-windows-vista.html

avast! 4 Home Edition is awarded a five star rating by Best Vista Downloads

    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-home-edition-awarded-five-star-rating-by-best-vista-downloads.html

    And just FYI...

avast! wins CNET Download.com 5 star rating

I have seen quite a few Norton haters here at Wilders become Norton lovers after trying the new version. Why not ride out the trial period at least? Then you can remove it if it's still lousey in your opinion.

I also know of two other AVs that are Vista-ready (according to the vendors, anyway):

BitDefender AV 10 series: AV standard, AV+, and IS
    Panda AV 2007

I have run the Vista advisory four time and it has never flagged my McAfee total security 2007 as not being compatable so I am taking it as it is compatable. When i had symantec corp av it flagged it immediatly as not compatable.

Running latest avast! for some time and i like it. It's fast, silent and does the job thoroughly as it did on former platforms. 1A job ALWIL :) I wonder what new features unique to Vista we might see
