I've read the beginners guide in the stickies. My question is this:

Rather than creating Windows xp installation CD, can I use XP pro "upgrade" with sp2 and forego creating a xp disk and just use the "upgrade" disk and go directly to "Building the BartPE CD"?? I do not have a xp home disk.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi max0071,

A Windows "upgrade" disk is the same as the full version, as far as BartPE is concerned. You have exactly what you need.

Thanks for the quick response Mustang. I have one addtional question:

The choices for ATI plugins for 9.0 3677 at the Mustang site are:

    ATI 9.0 2337 and Below
    ATI 9.0 3567 ONLY
    ATI 9.0 3625 and Up

I'm confused as to which I should use. Some of these are not posted on the ATI upgrade site. Could you please advise which one I should use (is 3567 a typo??)

    Thanks

3567 is not a typo. There is, however, something wrong with my numbering. There are builds between 2337 and 3567. There was also a build 3602 that is not accounted for. I just can't go back and install all these builds and try to sort out all the insane things Acronis did with them. It was like they fired all their programmers and hired new ones. Then the new guys decided to change directory structures and how things were done for no good reason. People who still use those old builds will just have to figure out what works. Could be a whole lot easier just to upgrade to a newer build.

I agree, however I'm very happy with 3667 and I don't want to rock the boat. It does everything I need except on a restore it takes over an hour for about 18 gigs, so I wanted to do the BartPe thing to speed things up. I presume "3625 and up" is the correct plugin for 9.3677?
Thanks mustang for all your good effort. I'll let u know how I do creating the Bartpe.

I reviewed my giant pile of TI Recovery disk. Here's what I came up with for English version numbers:

    True Image 9
    2247
    2259
    2270
    2273
    2277
    2289
    2302
    2323
    2337

    True Image 9 Home
    3567
    3625
    3633
    3666
    3667
    3854

    True Image Workstation 9
    3534
    3567
    3602
    3625
    3633
    3666
    3694
    3718
    3832
    3854

So, it appears my numbering for plugin choices is correct after all. The numbers that I thought were out of sync turned out to be for the Workstation version.

Well, the link appears to have stopped working.

You need three files from that one link. Two of them are from Bart and can be distributed. I've uploaded them to my website.

    bcd111.zip http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/BartPEGuide/bcd111.zip

    wxp10.zip http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/BartPEGuide/wxp10.zip

The third file you need is wnaspi32.dll. Bart's link pointed you to a link that downloads the file from Nero's website. I can't find that link. I'm not allowed to distribute the file. You can search your hard drive for wnaspi32.dll. There are alot of versions of that file out there by different companies. Most will work.

If Bart's link doesn't come back, I'll modify the guide and find a wnaspi32.dll I can distribute.

EDIT: I just tried it using Acronis' wnaspi32.dll. It worked fine. You can find the file at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\CDRecord.

EDIT: I found the Nero link and updated the guide. The links to all three files are working.
