ATI 10 next update?

can anyone hazard a guess as to when the next update ATI 10 will be released

On 13 Dec 2006 I received a Happy Holidays limited time offer to buy Acronis TI10 with a free bonus One Year Upgrade Protection plan.
I suppose that a 'limited time offer' is probably for 30 days so one would have needed to buy before 13 Jan 2007 to get the free One Year Upgrade Protection.
Hazarding a guess I'd say that the next build (to be known as TI11) will be released on 13 Jan 2008

I don't see any hint of a date in that post. However, I'd expect ATI10 to have curency for roughly a year and ATI11 to come out around September or October unless Acronis add some whopping collossal new feature.

If Acronis gets the email thing to work and a few other probs worked out, I would hope that an update within ATI10 would be released.

That post says "wait for a few days more to let us complete the investigation" and "As soon as the issue will be fixed, the new build of Acronis True Image will be created."
I guess I am being optimistic that the problem will be easy to fix once Support and the Development Team complete their investigation.

You're probably right. Those who purchased TI10 with the free One Year Upgrade Protection would then be happy. We'll just have to wait until the end of the year to see if my attempt at cynical humour has any relationship to fact. I hope it doesn't.

 

I just bought ATI 10, now ATI 11 is comeing out. I think the update protection applys to incremental updates from 10.0 to 10.95, whole number increases have to be paid for no mater if it is under a year or not. The guaranteed year only applys if the 10 series still has flaws at the end of a year. I could be wrong through. It would be nice to wind up the year with ATI 11.265.

 

Not any time soon, probably toward the end of 2007 or early 2008 if past history can be taken as a guide.

Updates have always been free and I believe will continue to be so.
The One Year Upgrade Protection plan covers upgrades not updates.
That is, if TI11 or TI12 or whatever is released while one is covered by the plan then that upgrade does not cost anything extra.
In practice I expect that there would be only one upgrade per year although I suppose it's possible we might see two upgrades.
The following example is fantasy and I don't suggest it's going to happen - one might be an upgrade to include Universal Restore in TI Home whilst a second upgrade might support the Vista WinFS file system when it's released.
Everyone else will have to pay the normal upgrade price for each and every upgrade.

 

My mistake. I see how the inference can be made. No way I would expect anyone at ATI to be able to predict within days when a release is coming out. Even if they were planning on a release within days -- having already already settled on the code, too many things can happen that can delay a release. My understanding is that resonses to support requests take a week or so. Translating that into settled code, web page updates, etc within days. I don't know what that quoted ATI response meant but it certainly invites cynicism. It's good we can laugh about it. You can't use a computer if you can't laugh about them. ;-)
