I also had the same problem where I could not install v10 of ATI and after I deleted these temp files in Windows Safe Mode, the installation worked!!!

    Hi,

I had the installation problem and only had to delete Temp files in the Temp folder. Did you try that? Read here, and here.

    Hi all

I've just got my copy of TI 10.0 and was really disappointed to hit this problem.

I've tried deleting the files in the temp directory as directed - but some can't be deleted as they say they are in use. (Does booting into safe mode get round this?). Also tried disabling firewall, AV and other software.

The install even gets as far as putting the icon on the desktop before turning tail and uninstalling. This is hugely frustrating!

I'm running out of time this evening. Will try the safe mode installation approach tomorrow.

In the meantime, if anyone has any further advice or encouragement, I'd welcome it.

    Many thanks
    David

Booting into XP safe mode, will allow you to delete all the temporary files.

I was having this same problem with my new purchase of TI home version 10. I cannot delete my temp files because there are actually some executible files that shortcuts are pointing to. A lot of downloaded files seem do this. I found I could right click on the downloaded file and go to properties. It seems there was an error when I right clicked on the file and think I hit abort so I could get to the properties of the file. At the bottom of the one of the tabs--I think it was the general tab--it said this file was downloaded from another computer and has been blocked for safety purposes. It said something to this effect. I told it to unblock this file and was able to install it fine after that. I am sorry for not being more precise on my explanation but I am trying to recall this from a week ago. I have never noticed this from any previously downloaded file before but it fixed my problem. I hope this helps.

    Hi again

I finally got round to giving this another go.

I tried booting into Safe Mode (for the first time ever!) and deleting files in the Temp directory. Still one couldn't be deleted. So tried to run TI 10 installer anyway, but got an error about Windows installer not working properly in Safe Mode.

Gave up and went back to normal Windows and tried installing again. This time I said to install for all users, rather than just me, and it installed straightaway.

    So far, so good.

Tried a test backup to my external USB drive. That seemed to complete OK, but when I used the program to verify the archive, it said "The file is corrupted. (0x4000D)".

Tried the same backup to my local C: drive. Got the same problem. I see from elsewhere on this forum that this seems to be another known issue.

I'm really, really disappointed. I've read some very positive reviews of TI in PC Pro, and PC Answers, but I just don't seem to be having any joy with it all. I'm just a home user who wants to protect his data - nothing fancy.

I'm pretty close to sending this back for a refund. Can anyone help?

    Many thanks
    David

    A few minutes later ...

I continued browsing round these brilliant forums and found a posting that said that even though the verify tool says an archive is corrupt, files can still be browsed and recovered ok.

So, I've been trying this - and it seems to be true.

Maybe this program will be sufficient for my needs then.

    I'll keep testing.

    Thanks
    David

Thanks, this solved my problem also. FWIW, a Nero Burning Rom failed installed was solved this way a few months ago. This seems to be a windows installer problem, not NERO's or Acronis's

I was having all of the same problems and I followed the advice of the person that said to install for all users. Once I did that it installed the first time.

I had shut down antivirus programs also but I think it was the install to only me that caused the problem.

Just to add that I answered another thread on this subject,my CD version of V10 won't install,no replies from Acronis Support on these pages either,I have tried all the suggestions here, and it still will NOT install, so I sent it back for a FULL refund, lets hope Acronis sort this out, but they do not seem very interested in this problem, they are keeping their heads down on this one!!!

Guys, i've been having this error for a while now (1 week) and finally today after several trials and things done (including googling) I found a fix. Never asked help in this forum, wanted to see if I can get it to work all by myself. I wanna say right from the beginning this was for a server 2003 and a workstation in a domain. There were user and workstation restoring from the backups in the past plus several versions of acronis installed one on top of the other so I had to adopt a radical measure for this to work.
1.First of all, uninstall all versions of acronis existing a the time.
2.Open regedit, search and delete all entries containing strings "acronis" and "trueimage".
3.Download and run the microsoft installer cleaner (mscuu2.exe) -->restart system.
4.Create a brand new user with administrative rights and login with it.
5.Run acronis installer, make sure you install for all users.
6.After installation is complete, trash the user acct if not needed (I kept it and disabled it).

Hope this is going to work for you as it was for me.
