Newbee question about ATI10H w/Core2Duo + 965 Chipset

In my transition to Vista I'm leaving all things Symantec/Norton behind. Have used Drive Image 7 + last Norton update w/Ghost 9 Emergency Recovery Disk all these years. Successfully.

First ATI10H backups on build above indicate somewhat faster and slightly smaller imaging than Drive Image 7. Very fast Verify operation in Windows. Good.

Was surprised that Emergency Boot from Installation Disk hung, but the Safe Mode version from Bootable Rescue Media Builder appears to work flawlessly: was able to Verify my backup images on 2nd hard drive - slave drive/dedicated image backup partition. OK.

But I have just discovered Aleksandr Isakov's thread from November 2, 2006 stating ATI10H Build 4871's incompatibility with Intel C2D + 965 Express chipset:

Passing strange: ATI10H in Windows and Safe Mode Recovery give every appearance of working with my C2D + 965 chipset rig.

So, this question: Short of testing by doing the actual thing, are chances good, based on Windows & Safe Mode Verify(s), that if really needed Recovery from the Boot Disk Safe Mode will work?

There are just too many occurrences of false positives with the verification process to hazard a guess. You just have to do an actual Restore to a spare hard drive to find out if it will really work.

Actually Ralphie's suggestion is a general DR principle and nothing to do with ATI specifically.
