If it makes you happy to play with, by all means, but I stay away from it. Sometimes it is interesting to try new software, but I was pretty dissapointed with the last main release.

It works so fine that I'm waiting for the final release. I have used jetico for years but it's not going to be free v2 (they have reason, it takes work to do it), so that maybe from now on I'm going to use this one, unless the price of Jetico is not too high I'll keep that one. But let's wait this new final release of Comodo v2.4(RC's work very fine here).

Hi Cheater87 - You said the update will be coming later today, as did the forum post. How much later? It's 8:20PM. I see some negative responses here. Do they know something I should know? Do you know what will be included in the update? :)

I had tried Comodo. Not bad but not impressive. Too much mem use for a rules based firewall. It ran okay for me, but not the smoothest either.
I just was dreading the later version with HIPS- I would hate to see the mem use then and possible CPU problems. The default rules needed some tightening up- not hard to do if anyones understands some basic firewalls and internet going ons. The logging needs some improvement - logs disappearing after rebooting is not something I liked at all. If I forgot to save the logs, they were disappearing.

As for the leaktests- a non existant exploit leaktest does not impress me at all. Yes of course, I am concerned about leaktests, but running the KAV6 and Kerio 2.15 with the free SSM beats leaktests. And Kerio 2.15 does not have a name for great results in leaktests, no matter how it is tightened or tweaked. The Kerio 2.15 and the free SSM together use less mem than the Comodo and with very much the same results- actually I like the Kerio interface even better. It is eaiser to use, at least for me. Plus it works beautiful with any antivirus's web scanners.

Maybe I will try the Comodo, in the future, after it has finally matured and the bugs are worked out with it's present and future features. Maybe then and only then.

12fw: that's an honest and well explained opinion.

The logging will be improved i'm told. It's one of the downsides, i agree. They were quite open to that request (and all the others for that matter). My guess is that it's improved in this version (2.4). I have to check.

The memory usage has been improved from build to build. What was the last one you tried? The current one?

gre87y - Worried is not the word. Surprised is. I'm not used to seeing negative posts for CPF. Most folks rave about it. Something I'm still not used to. :D

To the naysayers, exactly what do you find so very wrong with CPF? Inquiring minds...

I'm waiting for Comodo fans to start posting titles like this:

"Next week somebody will post that a new version of Comodo is coming!"

"Comodo will offer an update in undetermined time in the future!"

    I mean come on :)

It's funny how we have become so accustomed to install/remove/re-install, try new beta-software, test for free to companies and all of the rest of the hooplah, that we have forgotten the basic rule:

If it's not broken, don't fix it.

    And it's reverse:

If you need to keep fixing it, it could well be broken

Gimme a firewall that doesn't need to be re-installed (and retrained) for every alpha, beta & release candidate that comes out and is updated in a major way ONLY when it really needs to (and not every second day). Otherwise, just a silent install behind my back.

I would rather see them spend the time to get it right before releasing it. I have had a couple updates from companies that really caused me problems because the update wasn't right.
