Be careful. I recommend not doing dangerous surfing while you have it, unless you have the right environment to test it accordingly.

I agree. Even though I have a WLOC subscription, I am never "comfortable" when it's installed. I must be truly insane, because here I am again - testing the beta WLOC 1.5. LOL Anyway, here are some recent comparisons that I just found:

I've been trialling OneCare for a few days now. I have to say it surely keeps me clean and safe. Firewall is pretty good and passes all the leaktests I can do. The anti virus is pretty fast as well.
And offcourse the cpu is really low.

So my first impression is good

I can't take Microsoft seriously as a security vendor. The Firewall that comes with Windows is crap. The MS antispyware product is mediocre. And their browser (IE) has all kinds of security holes that they are slow to patch. Considering the above mentioned points, I wouldn't even consider installing their AV product.

My experience with OneCare this past August was disasterous, and I wound up getting rid of the computer and OneCare.

It doesn't work, since my computer either got infected or OneCare itself was the infection! Secondly, the user agreement forces you to agree to let them drop cookies into your machine to monitor useage, equating it with the very spyware it is supposed to be defending against! I would never recommend it. In fact after that experience I go out of my way to avoid MS products.

I was trialing the beta One Care 1.5. I never did get used to NOT having WIndows Defender (antispyiware and AV scanners are combined, with NO software explorer or configurable shields). I decided to uninstall the beta One Care and reinstall the previous GM WOC 1.1, but when I did, WOC had been changed to this newer version. I could not get it to activate using my subscriptions, and I got a useless response from official support. I uninstalled again, used their clean up tool, but still had bits of One Care on my PC that I could not get rid of, even after running jv16Power Tools and manually deleting some registry entries. In disgust, I reformatted my PC and reinstalled KIS6.0. I would rather have the "headache" of training KIS than submit my self to Microsoft's "group policy" for One Care.

    Hello Everyone,

Well, my WLOC and Windows Defender trial was short lived, after a couple of days of exploring these programs I decided to uninstall them. Windows Defender uninstalled nicely, no problems whatsoever, WLOC during uninstallation encountered a problem and did not uninstall correctly or completely, ended up having to reformat my laptop.
