    Look ‘n’ Stop GUI Refresher

    http://www.mntolympus.org/download.php?get=LooknStop-GUI_Refresher.zip

This is just a simple and tiny application that refreshes the Look ‘n’ Stop GUI to correct display problems (like shown with LooknStop Tabs) when loading little early in the boot process (like seen when using Look ‘n’ Stop - Service Utility).

You can execute it manually or have it set to be launched automatically by usage in any of the Windows Start-up group.

    Hi PhantOm,
    Thanks a lot :)

This nice tool by chance does not also help with the loading problems of LnS when switching between different user accounts (log off -> log on) ??

    Thanks,
    Thomas :)

    Hey Thomas M

    You are welcome.

Only addresses the GUI display issues, but which LogON-LogOff issue you speaking about exactly?

My LnS is installed including fast loading service (automatic start is disabled). When I "Log Off" as user "1" to "Log On" as user "2" (e.g. user administrator needs to be logged in to install program updates), my LnS does not correctly load! Either it loads 2 instances of LnS, which is not so critical. Or sometimes it loads one LnS window without any registration information at all. The consequence of the 2nd scenario is that application filtering is not active anmore :(
I have to reboot in order to load the registered version of LnS, but during these initial 10 seconds before the reboot my system has no active application filtering :doubt:

Does your little tool maybe also help for this problem??

    Thanks,
    Thomas

Thanks for the detailed information, sadly to say this utility does not address those situations. However this is something that should be investigated and addressed…..

As of yet not having anything to-do with Log-ON / Log-OFF, really not had the need but I should be-able to shed some light presently on couple of your experiences…

    1. If two or more Look ‘n’ Stop instances exists, only the first instance for that Windows session will have Application-filtering activated.
    2. Using ‘Registry keys - Per user’ LooknStop setting, and accessing different user accounts can have Look ‘n’ Stop become loaded in default / fresh un-configured state, configuring is necessary for every different user account… And also running second or third or so on … Look ‘n’ Stop instances for the first time would also give you that default / fresh un-configured Look ‘n’ Stop state…

You wouldn't also happen to be using one of my previous utilities, LooknStop-GUI Exit Protection?

This utility isn’t depended on Look ‘n’ Stop service utility; however it is usually with the Look ‘n’ Stop service utility that the Look ‘n’ Stop visual problems are commonly observed.

Error -2 indicates Look ‘n’ Stop application couldn’t be seen so make sure Look ‘n’ Stop application has been fully loaded and then re-launch that utility.

    hi,

yes i'm using your gui exit protection :)
i disabled it, still didn't work, but i'm in shadowmode (shadowuser) right now, i think that may be it. i'll try again when i reboot next time.
i'm not sure if it concerns me cause i'm not running LNS as service, but sometimes in the application tab there are apps displayed which are already closed, i was interested in the tool because of this, but it's not a big deal. thank you

Simply disabling the GUI Exit protection isn’t significant enough to allow for this Refresher utility to work, re-boot of Look ‘n’ Stop application or Windows would be needed…

No the 'List of active applications' frequently updates itself, this here Refresher fixes some display issues like with the Look ‘n’ Stop TABs being discoloured… ;)
