if you want good heuristics and accurate detection than NOD32 and Bit Defender. For strong heuristics but some(or many FPs) Avira and VBA32.

yes, according to actual performance,VBA32 is strongest in heuristic, but brings aome false posivite

It ought be remembered also that heuristic methods are the "art" of subtle evocation (as unto the entrapment of crapware) - not provocation (as unto infection by it!).

The best proactive detection is product called panda
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/
detects new threats without needed to be update often
TruPrevent™ Technologies detect unknown viruses and intruders by analyzing the behavior or activities of the programs that are running on the computer.

By checking which programs are carrying out potentially dangerous actions, TruPrevent™ Technologies can identify unknown viruses and block their actions.

This process is completely reliable and doesn't generate false alarms, degrade system performance or slow down the processes that are running.

try scanning with the online scanner called free activescan and be surprised what it detects
    it has no false positives

    link here
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/ActiveScan.htm?sitepanda=particulares

    /////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I use activescanpro it was only $8.99 yr

It automatically disinfects wild or high risk viruses, trojans worms

but these you can select or unselect to disinfect
    trojans
    dialers
    spyware
    security risks
    hacking tools
    jokes

you can also select to detect unknown viruses or threats

    please try this product

    thank you for reading

Nah, Eset has this ranking for now. Tru-Prevent is nice but Eset has taken the lead in this area.

I believe that Tru-Prevent is a behaviour blocker, like KAV PDM (ProActive Detection Module)
So, it isn´t heuristics and it´s useless at on-demand scanning.
