I need help in configuring a backup schedule which would consist of 1 Full backup and 3 Incremental backups and then repeat the same. I have configured my backup location with the following parameters:
    - Location size quota: 18 gigs
    - Max # of backups: 4
    - Storage period limits: 45 days

I setup a weekly schedule, which works fine, but it only creates a Full backup image. When I try to Edit the schedule, I only have the option to choose between making a Full, Incremental or Differential backup. I assumed that if I chose Full, then Incrementals would be created thereafter (3) and then create a new Full backup overwriting the previous one according to the Backup Location configuration.

So again.... how do I configure a schedule to create 1 Full backup then 3 Incremental backups and then repeat the process?

    THANKS!

You select to create a scheudle task. Select My Computer then next, select the drive you want to backup and next, select a Backup Location from Backup Locations in the left window and next, select Create Incrementals and select haw many to make before a a new full backup is made, select next and select how often to run the schedule. I beliew the file number limit in the backup location applies to the number fo Full backups and not the incs that are associated with a Full backup.

Thanks for the detailed destructions. :)

Now, there are a couple of things you recommended that are either not apparent or missing:

    1. If I choose "Incremental" as the backup type, how does this work when there is no Full backup to append to?
    2. When going through the Wizard, there is no option to choose how many Incremental backups to do before a Full backup is created? I've looked through everything I can find and no such option can be found. Can you point me to where this option is found?
I did change the maximum number of backups in the "Backup Locations" settings to "1" as you suggested also.

    THANKS.

Re: Help with scheduling - RESOLVED

Everything finally clicked after coming across another thread and reading through a tutorial linked to by Gene Barlow here: Automatic Backups with True Image 10.0 Home. My error was in not choosing the "Backup Location" partition in the tree. I had ignorantly chosen the same partition but in the regular Explorer tree. Once I chose the destination partition under "Backup Locations", then all the other options were made available and the rest was a no-brainer!! http://www.the-highway.com/Smileys/uglystupid.gif

It's an easy mistake to make if you're not watching closely. I think I was the first on this forum to start a thread on this when I made the same mistake. In my case, the tree was larger thanthe window and "backup Locations" wasno't showing but the newly created directory was. Of course, if I had RTMed, I would have thought to scroll the tree and find the right target.\

Good luck, there are worse mistakes we can make ;)
