Help AV ran out today!!

Been using Etrust 2006 Ez Antivirus version 7.0.6.7 and it expired today (must have been all those warnings i saw for the past month !!)

Its expired now and I was thinking off getting a new AV as it keeps missing dodgy files (a warning pops up and it says deleted the infection then milliseconds later it shows another infection got through?).

I run:

ZA 6.1.774
Spywareguard 2.2
Spybot S&D 1.4
Spyware blaster 3.5.1
and startup monitor

Plus a-squared free and ad-aware for on-demand scanning

And I was either thinking of just getting the free ez av 2007 software using that Microsoft tie in or going for NOD32

I really need it to be light on resources as I use my PC for music production so which of these are a good choice or are they any others I really should look at?

They're all good and free, if you're after a paid version the report also recommends nod32 and Kaspersky, which I'd agree with.

for a light and effective AV, NOD32 is one of the best.

 

Get Active virushield. It is Kaspersky antivirus in disguise. It works fine, is light and free. But AOL will send ads to the email address you give so thing what address you give them.

According to wilders' regulars , Kaspersky, Avira AV and NOD32 are the best for you. Light and on the top.
I use Avast!, but it can slow things down sometimes. If you really need one that light, go with these.
Avira experienced some problems with the update, but it shouldn't last long.

 

For paid I would go with Nod, for free Antivir Personal. Both very light on resources.

 

Recommended "lightweight" AV scanners;

Free; AVG, Avast, AntiVir, AOL's AV.

Commercial; AntiVir Premium, Dr Web, F-Prot 6, NOD32, VBA32.

Try any of these AV's and see which one suits your system and pocket the best.

Apart from the AV to use, if you want resource usage to be minimum I would not run any AS scanners in real-time. Just use a non-IE browser and stick to your on-demand scanners

 

If you want a free antivirus, AOL Active Virus Shield or Antivir Classic.

 

i recommend AVG for a free solution,

and dr.web for paid.

yep, id agree with that selection, whichever suits the user.

 

i would suggest trying nod32,dr web and kaspersky to see what you like the best.

If you want to keep using etrust i have a spare license key you can use. It works fine with the new version 8, its good for almost another whole year.
