I'm not having any problems with the new version but if you aren't happy you may want to try BoClean.I have this also, runs light as a feather. Nice program :)

So far this version doesn't work in Vista. Is Grisoft planning a version that will work there?

If you have upgraded by installing 7.5 ontop of 4.0, then try to uninstall it reboot and reinstall 7.5.

I have had ewido sense before 3.0 came out.I have always liked it untill now.I uninstalled ewido and installed the avg 7.5 ---i seem to have problems in games.Random slow ups.Looks like i will just let kaspersky handle the job now.

So long ewido. You were a nice Companion on my computer. But i have to just say no to avg.

After installing the new 7.5 version, I miss Ewido.

IMHO 'Ewido' is such a cool name. 'AVG Anti-Spyware' is boring. Also the old orange Ewido systray icon was terrific and easy to spot. The new one is blah!

Trivia yes, but when I tell clients about it, 'Ewido' is so much easier to say and it turns heads. I'd have a tough time recommending 'AVG Anti-Spyware' to someone, the name sounds like all the other junk out there.
    Well that's my two cents.

I had a few negative things to say about AVG after the name change from Ewido in Oct. After running AVG Anti-Spyware the last couple months without any problems and also the lifetime license has been honored so far,I feel the need to apologize. The program runs flawlessly on my system and is well worth having.

I agree! I trust this program to keep my computer safe but am looking around for an alternative at this point because of the excessive CPUand RAM usgage. I could make a 3 course meal in the time it takes my computer to boot up and shut down now!

Why should I use AVG Anti-Spy as I already have Spybot S&D, Adaware & Windows Defender?

Because, at this moment, AVG AS is better than those.

    Better - how?
If I do use AVG AS should I uninstall Windows Defender - are there likely conflicts?

    Muchisimas gracias.

AVG AS (Ewido) has detection rates on the levels of some AVs (around 75/80 %). Also, it has heuristics, emulation and unpacking engines which are useful in detecting variants and/or unknown malware.
AVG AS, together with SUPERAntiSpyware and A-Squared are the best antispyware/antimalware at the moment.
Ad-aware SE and SpyBot S&D are outdated products and useless against the current nasties (blended malware, rootkits, repacked stuff, etc) but they retain popularity because they are the pioneers of the AS industry.
Windows Defender used to be a very good app when it was Giant AS. After Microsoft bought Giant, its detection rate has declined.

You can install all the AS you want. IMHO, you should install one or two of the best apps. (AVG AS, SAS, A-Squared) as on-demand scanners and nothing more.

Does this mean that the next release of (what would be) Ewido is going to be out-of-date before it's released and be impossible to remove when I inevitably become dissatisfied with it (if that is the case)? I am hoping, as much as a man can hope, that AVG has no hand in future releases of Ewido, because I want Ewido to remain as good as it has proven to be in the past, and not slip into an AVG-like suckiness.

I was sharing Ewido with a friend (because he has a malware or two and I was giving him the best free help I knew), and said "Oh god no," out loud when I saw "Grisoft" on the front page. :'(

I bought the ewido protection (7.5) and it overlapped the free version (expired Feb. 18th)

Now I get messages that my free version has lapsed and want me to download another free AVG. I don't want to do this as I have paid for the service.

How do I prevent the free AVG download page from popping up every day? I click the download button and then click cancel to get rid of the pop-up.

I have tried to delete the free program but it keeps coming back.

    Any suggestions?
