one of the features i see missing from antivir suite and the av is password protection. what if you have children that will just turn it off then its useless.
I dont think f-secure had it either which is kinda funny since it had parental control.
it should be quite simple nod32 and kaspersky have it.
i guess others do as well.

Not only kids disable it . I have a clients/company which used AVG before (now NOD) . The Admin had problems with users/employees who had a very bad habit to turn off AVG . When he saw NOD he was quite happy because he can password-protect it from being disabled and from changing the settings. Lodore , there are different people in the world . These people can't give appropriate answer why did they disable the AV ,they said the icon was annoying
Very strange people , by the way :p :)

ye i know some people turn it off because it slows them down lol
i guess not in the case of avg because its light.
thats why i like having the option of password protection.
at first i was gonna turn on password protection with kaspersky so i dont right click the icon and click exit by mistake and then have to start it again.
but i haven't accidentally clicked exit yet.

    My security settings:

    Active in memory:
-Kaspersky Internet security 6.0.2.523 (with personal anti-hacker rules)
    -Look'n'stop 2.05p3 (with phant0m's rules)

    On demand:
    -Spybot S&D
    -Asquared Free
    -Process Explorer

    Host:
-Hostman (a good way to keep a host list updated and you can easily disable all restrictions when you don't need them).

    Hardening:
    -Windows xp up to date
    -Personal registry security tweaks
-A lot of unused windows services disabled
    -Immunity against 8305 malicious activeX
    -SocketLock
    -Limited windows user ;)

    Memory usage:
-I use 120mb after the boot

I'm really in doubt about my protection, it's light, but maybe Nod32 and outpost in memory could improve it (So if you can give me some advices, I'll be pleased to listen it ;p).

The real question: is Nod32 and Outpost a better security bundle than KIS and LNS (Including memory issue).

    Hi,

first thing i have to say is how your 2 active firewalls didn't conflict with each other

Second, may be you can try NOD32 and LNS together

Kaspersky Anti-hacker isn't fully activated (low security);p... I use it only as a blocking inbound traffic purpose on some ports (When you have many ports to block kaspersky stay better than lns).

Soon to be my final security setup:
    -Common sense
-Backup system: optical media, offline HDD, networked storage
-UTM router(testing IPCop, Endian and pfSense)

-System hardening: services tweaks, WWDC, SafeXP, BugOff, Script Defender, SpywareBlaster with custom list
-Jetico v1 w/NTWrapper and Bluetack lists
    -GeSWall free
    -Link Scanner Lite
-Firefox with all security add-ons(NoScript, AdblockPlus, Dr Web Link Checker, etc)
    -Thunderbird tweaked for security
-Jotti/Virus Total online scanners prior to executing any install/compressed/document file

-AV: Deciding between Antivir Premiun and NOD 32
-On demand scanners: SAS Free. Thinking about an integrity checker like Sentinel

like MaB69 suggested, try NOD32 with LooknStop.

u can also try KIS alone. theres no need to have LnS as well.

Why you use LinkScanner Lite because it doesn't support Firefox (at this moment)?

It's written in my signature :D

I think I have the strong combo with the smallest footprints on the memory.
I had to change this year because AVG and Spysweeper upgraded their programs in bloatware. I have to say NOD32 is fabulous! Well worth the price. Very easy to install too (V2.70.16).

Very happy with Comodo since this summer, install in a breeze automatically, recognise everything by itself and passed the PC flank tests.

A relief with Spyware Terminator after SpySweeper. Small, smartand soooo fast.

    What do you think?

WSFuser: why do you prefer Cookie Button to CookieSafe?
    Just curious on your opinion.

    Added:
    Removed:
    Updated

    Router - Linksys BEFSR41
    Firewall - Zonealarm Free
    Anti-Virus - NOD32

Utility Suite - Regrun Platinum v5.0 (Previous v4.6)
Anti-Exploit - Linkscanner Pro (Previous Socketshield)

    AntiTrojan - Boclean
    IPS - Prevx1
    Ad blocking - Ad Muncher
    Cookie monitoring - CookiePal
    Firewall/AV - KIS6
Malicious Behaviour Blocking - SurfinGuard Pro

I really liked KIS6 as a concept, and in use it worked fairly well. But the Firewall was getting annoying. Even when I allowed certain apps "Any activity" I still got prompts. With Regrun, trying to get the updates just looped and KIS just kept on asking if I wanted to allow it. No matter how many times I said yes and "allow any activity" it just kept asking until Regrun said it couldn't establish a connection. Also, the Proactive defence got in the way much too much. In the end I have had to get rid - for my own sanity!
