Would someone here care to venture a reason why I cannot get Jetico 2 to install ever?Every build I keep getting the ox 80080005 "could not connect to firewall server".This has been going on since approx. early in the summer of this year,I believe.(the last 4 or 5 builds anyway)I have tried some suggestions, like switching to manual, installing in "safe",throughly cleaned the machine-temp files,jv16 etc.Its funny,I have no problem installing on my notebook, but never on my desktop-which is where I really would like it.I have done some firewall beta testing in the past so I'm used to beta releases and their quirks.I guess I'm just amazed that I can't get past the reboot-ever!!I see that some others are having the same type of problem, but I watch the forum and haven't seen any real solution to this problem...unless I missed it.Jetico seems like a very interesting piece of software and I'd really like to get it to work on my desktop.Oh well, thanks for hearing my "tale of woe"!!LOL!!:'(

    Hi Nail,

I use groups to define profiles por certain apps, so I can then put rules for the group, instead of each app. That works fine.

What I would like to see is, in the pop up windows, have an option to add the application to a group (for example, "trusted apps"), so from now on the rules for "trusted apps" will be used for this app.

Right now I have to go and add the new app manually to the corresponding group.

Using "template" does it partially since it is only valid in the table that triggered the pop up.

I'm using beta 17, and so far everything works fine.

    Regards,
    Esteban

Good idea as i am working with a lot of application groups. :thumb:
A good extencion of this would be to put an IP into a certain IP-Group py popup alert.

    Hi,
I have installed last beta release jetico 2, after about 1/2 hour of start and reboot I have now my pc quiet stable and working, the only problem is emule, when I try to connect to any server or kad, computer crash with no log message or win blue screen and I have to reboot it. (Jetico 1 works fine with emule to)
    Any suggestion ?

P.S. PC configuration: win xp sp2 and bitdefender 10 only av+aspam+aspyware

Yeah, I got a little tired of using Jetico v.1 with NT Wrapper (to render jpf as a service), so I thought I'd give jpf v.2 a try since it _already runs_ as a service out of the box.

Well, it was a total crash and burn. Tried four times to load it while running SpySweeper, NOD32, AVG a-spy, and the thing just would not load. Froze up like a wet snowball left out overnight in January, and just wouldn't load. My system temps were hitting all-time highs. Don't need that. Tried uninstalling SpySweeper (also runs as a service), and that didn't help. Suppose I could have uninstalled NOD32, but what's the point?

I like jpf v. 1 very much, but didn't like running it with NT Wrapper, too cumbersome and awkward. But jpf v.2 is not ready for my prime time, unfortuately.

Given the good press on Comodo lately, I have now reinstalled that and it's running fine -- as a service and *with* the option to stop all outbound traffic during shut-down, thank you very much. Doing well on the controversial leak tests only makes it more appealing. Controversial is fine with me. :)

Now I just have to find a way to get cpf to load up *first* as a service and I'll be a happy camper ... for now. Anybody know how to do that?

    SS

I tried Jetico PF 2.0 yesterday and it really tried my patience!! (That's something that tends to be in short supply, I'll admit.) I needed 3 reboots just to open tabs in the GUI, and I never was able to open any files at all. Used Safe Mode to uninstall JPF2. It's possible that real-time security apps make installation and configuration more difficult, and installing in Safe Mode (or on a clean Windows install) may be the way to go. Perhaps sometime when I haven't had any coffee......

You can use Sysinternal's (now owned by Microsoft) Autoruns to set the boot order for programs or services.

Thank you, KD ! I'll figure it out by myself !! No help needed (but if anybody wants to drop a hint, I'd welcome it).

I don't think there is a way!! I have not seen it. In autoruns the only thing to change, is disabling a program at startup.

    @Jimpdx, SamSpade
Patience, Patience, Patience. It does take longer to configure Jetico 2 but worth it. I have zero problems here. I can configure Jetico 2 in two hours from scratch. I can understand why people give up because there are so many popups. But, Jetico 2 is one of the best Firewalls.

That is *exactly* what I've been wondering !!! I read that yesterday Autoruns was the way to change the boot order, but I have not found any way to change the order using that app.

If somebody knows how Autoruns does this, please speak up !!

I really loved using Jetico 1, love its transparency most of all. But I didn't like having it run as a service while under another program, NTWrapper. So, I tried Jetico 2 because, for one thing, it runs as a service right out of the box, with no need for another helper-program.

But, when I tried to run it yesterday, it just would not load. I have Spy Sweeper, AVG-antispy (formerly Eiwido), and NOD32 -- and jpf 2 just hung up every time I booted up. Even after uninstalling SSweeper, it hung-up forever.

I'm using Comodo now, but I feel like it's just working behind my back and I don't know what it's doing! jetico is far more transparent, and I like that. Comodo may have passed all the leak tests on a recent test, but is that the true judge of its effectiveness ?? Besides, jetico 2 wasn't too shabby on those tests, either.

I cannot even get that far. After I install jpf2 and restart the computer just sits and sits, eventually giving off whispers of heat to keep my hands warm. Nothing works. It locks up tighter than Notre Dame's marching band drum.

I've gone back to jetico 1. I don't care for COMODO all that much. I like the hands-on feel from jetico. Wish I could v. 2 to work, but I'm satisfied with v. 1.

    JPF 2.0.0.20 beta is out

    Sorry for terrible delay.
    2.0.0.17 beta is ready. Improvenents:

    * Vista support.
    * System crash on intensive logging fixed (might affect p2p applications).
    * "indirect relativeness" type of indirect access to network added. Example:
App1 starts App2, then App2 contacts App3 via OLE API. In this case
App1-App3 relationship will be marked as "indirect relativeness".
    * "Browse" button added to application groups editor.
    * Action icons added to popup dialog.
    * Terminated process ID logging fixed. Now JPF will log "n/a" instead of garbage
    * JPF setup program fixed (upgrade procedure).

Hi, I have used jetico v1 for more than 2 years, and I decided to try v2.
v2.0.0.17 wasn't good for my pc, but now, v2.0.0.20 goes like a silk in my system, so good, soooooooo good, it uses 2,928 kb of ram, incredible and I like too much that indirect access to network that v1 doesn't have, I see many improvments.
I have one question, it says that this version only works until next january 21, after that it doesn't work? did it happend with last v2? they even haven't said the price for it I think.
Well, I see v2 has many improvments, well done JETICO!!!

Yes there is a current time limit on each release, while it is still in beta.

This build is certainly a big improvement, and is currently running (for the last 8hrs) without any problems.

This is for evaluation license. It happened in all other v2 beta versions. Next beta version will extend the license (when released before January 21). Not sure what the final release price will be, Jetico probably won't release that till version 2 becomes final.
Save your config file in Jetico File>SaveAs before installing a new version or reinstalling.

Stem: I would really appreciate a comparative between Jetico 1 and the final build of Jetico 2(when available)

Running fine here, but only after a clean install. Update failed.

Just tested this. JPF setup program fixed (upgrade procedure).
Reinstalled build 2.0.0.17 and loaded saved config. file. Rebooted and installed build 2.0.0.20 The upgrade worked for me. But it did not save my setting from previous configuration. Had to reload saved config. file.
So this does work when upgrading from previous build.

I was ambiguous and tried to update directly over 20017 :). Installed visibly ok, asked about file replacements ok, and prompted reboot after this but on reboot did not give me control icon at all and from menu gui would not show up, allthought processes (both servers and gui) were active. So uninstalled and installed again. After that everything ok. GJ :)

Exactly this happened here as mentioned above in my last post.
