I was reminded by another thread about this site

They claim to have a FREE firewall that seems to do it all?

But also suggest the patron should buy their other tool.

The website itself is impressive and seems legit.
What do you think?

I thought I had tried this firewall, but connot fing a copy (or info) anywhere in my backups. I will download and install.

 

Update:
It does look interesting. There are many pre-defined rulesets for various applications, and pre-defined port groups. So this will certainly help new users.

I thought at first this was a simple application/rules based firewall. But I was suddenly given a popup about the loading of a dll into firefox, so I will play a little longer.

Any further comments?. Like or Dislike?. Have you had any time to run any tests on it?.

 

There are a number of filter options, such as:-
Ad blocker
Ad picture blocker
Content Filter
Mail filter
(and attached pic) Host/Active content blocker

 

I have not run any tests yet. Will do this a little later. I did mention that I was given popups due to dll`s being loaded (example ~pic). But this, if blocked, will block the application (completely) from internet connections (rather than just the dll), and I am not currently finding any sort of data base or allowed dll`s list.

It does appear just to be giving warnings of any dll loaded into an application while you are currently connected with that application.

 

That last ss sure looks like Outpost's rules window. My comparison ss below.

 

Well, the firewall is failing at the first simplest test, the GRC leaktest I believe that a firewall should at the very minimum check on the location of an application (most firewalls will check an application by location and MD5 or sha hash/checksum). But this firewall is allowing any application from any location that is named "firefox" internet connection (due to rules I have in place to allow firefox).

Well it looked good, but this puts me off this firewall.

That seems to be a shame
I was liking the look of the screenies till you actually started using the tool.

I am going to check out the Imaging utility from the same site, but this is not encouraging.

I played with this firewall some monthes ago.
In my opinion, this FW has the best of GUI ! Very easy to use it, with plenty of lists to define to use in the rules (lists of services, of hosts, of network, ...).
There is the possibility to ctrate your rules as playing lego !: some presets (mail access, web access, ...) and you can define your rule for any application (remember some coreforce ideas).

But the very last versiion of this FW is 2005-dated.

And the logs... what a pity... when you stop the FW (remember, you stop a FW every time you stop Windows), logs are removed.

I think this FW is based on outpost 1 (and logs in outpost 1 were removed the same way ? can't remember exactly, but I think so).

So, the best GUI for quite a bad engine !
