    Hi
    i'm a nod32 user
i tried kaspersky 6 , and it seems more light then the old version

i'm not able to make good differences , but it seems kaspersky 6 is fast like nod32, in real time

    could somebody help me?
is kav6's realtime really fast like nod32 or is more heavy/slow?

    does somebody make some tests?

    thanks & kinds regards

On my setup (this may be different for others), nod32 is lighter than KAV6, althouth there is not much difference between them now. One thing I do notice is that KAV6 takes a lot longer than nod32 to load when you start windows.

i used both AV and i feel KAV is slower(a little bit) than NOD32 but its much faster if you compare KAV 6 with KAV 5 :D

kav 6.0 does a start up scan and nod32 doesnt.
I bet if you turned off startup scan they would be very very close.
I dont reccomend turning the startup scan off.

I always disable the startup scan, when I found this I also find my computer is slower to shutdown with KAV6 than nod32, but only by about 10 secs or something, again this is just on my setup, others may find the opposite.

i agree and, for me personally, the difference is much more noticeable when browsing files on a cd/dvd.

True, but NOD32 doesn't scan everytime when windows start-up. And I think that NOD32 scan less start-up files than Kaspersky.

I've tried both and there seems to be no difference in real time. The key word here is "seems". To answer your last question: No I did not perform any kind of measurement tests.

I have both on my system. Use NOD32 for realtime protection and KAV for manual scans. NOD32 uses slightly less memory than KAV, which also totally reduces my bandwidth. I guess I could disable monitoring port 80 in KAV but what's the point if IMON in NOD32 doesn't cut my bandwidth.

Kav is slower, geez, it also detects better, so it is really what you want more of. Booting up it takes abot 15 seconds for the K to show in my tray. Nod is about 2. WOW. Browsing web pages is slower with Kav. All of this means something to some and nothing to others. Just as the difference in a few detection points means equally the same. Bottom line. Who really cares, as long as you are happy and protected and both do it. Well,,,,,unless you want the ultimate speed and detection then,,,,,,,,,,another day.:)

I'm on a high speed cable connection and when I run KAV it's like I'm on dial up. I could listen to a whole Pearl Jam song while a page fully loads, like it's still the 90's. NOD32 doesn't effect my bandwidth. Doesn't matter if I run Firefox 2 or IE7. Maybe KAV conflicts with something else I'm running? I've got Outpost 4 and Spyware Terminator also loaded.

as far as i aware the web av in MP1 doesn't slow down internet speed even with buffering scan.

i agree that kav scans more areas at startup compared to nod32.

Well it doesn't matter because I am solidly sold on the Avira Suite and will buy a few more licenses for my remaining computers.:)

My experience is the same. I did a connection speed test provided by my ISP. I tried it with KAV off and with KAV on having Webscan (buffering scan) enabled. No difference in speed at all. ;)

    In my limited tests:
The footprint is not very different, but the scanning speed of the on-access monitor of Kaspersky is noticeably slower than AMON. Create a directory full of large compressed files at various levels and with different algorithms(rar, 7z, cab, jar, executables, etc)
KAV6 pre-MP1 w/o behaviour blocker vs NOD 32 2.5 both to maximum settings

    trjam.....

I get a kick reading you and Lodore's posts, especially the ones about what AV/Suite you guys are using. I am a little confused though. I thought you were using KIS 6. I take it you switched back to Avira SS? I'm totally confused on what Lodore is using. ;) :D
