Defensewall sessionstore untrusted processes

Is there any way to stop all the firefox sessionstores being listed as untrusted processes in Defensewall?

Firefox is listed and all those damm sessionstores as well.

When I last tried Defensewall I noticed a mouse-lag sometimes on bookmarks and scrolling down sites. Was this co-incidental or is it a known issue?

1. What is sessionstores? FF extension or what?

2. What was the version of DW that cause slowdowns? Try the latest one.

The sessionstore is built into the latest firefox 2. I also use TabMixPlus extension but am relying on the the in-built sessionstore. Whenever you re-start Firefox Defensewall adds two untrusted processes called sessionstore X & Z, where X & Z are numbers. The list just keeps growing. BTW, these are in addition to the firefox.exe listed.

I like the features because if I inadvertently close a tab, I can re-open it. Plus, Firefox has crash recovery that comes in useful.

I was running 1.71 when I noticed the drag which isn't all the time.

If you can get rid of the sessionstores so that I just see firefox grouped with the other untrusted processes then I'll buy it. If I add a new untrusted process then I have an awful lot of clicking to move it from the bottom of the queue to the top alongside the untrusted. Sessionstores are a child process of Firefox and tell me nothing.

BTW - I noticed Thunderbird is not automatically listed as untrusted, is there a reason for this? I take it that T'bird should be untrusted?

I tried DW 1.72 . DW slowdowned my Firefox too.

 

DW appears to slow down FF2 but not 1.5 so much

It is very strange thaty DW haven't found Thunderbuird- there are two methods to determine its precense. Mail me to suport [at] softsphere [dot] com and I'll try to fix this problem.

I'll listen out for the FF2.0 driver being available before installing DW again.

Although DW didn't automatically sense T'bird, it was easy to add with 1.71.

Because it didn't add automatically I thought T'bird had some mystical properties that obviated the need for DW!

I posted in another thread that I downloaded and tried Defensewall a couple of days ago, and I liked it. The only thing I did was to add a couple of processes to the untrusted list. No other changes were made.

Everything worked fine during that time, and then about 2 hrs into the session I opened Defensewall to check and discovered that all the untrusted apps were gone. There was nothing listed at all, not even those that were there when I first installed Defensewall.

There was no warning of any kind, nothing. They just disappeared. No explanation, no warning, and no way apparently to get them back.

My computer is a generic home built model, 1.2G AMD processor, 512RAM, running Win XP Home SP2 with most of the updates, Firefox 2 browser, and free AOL avs (Kaspersky). I also have Sandboxie but it was not opened, and am using LooknStop firewall. No other security apps were onboard at that time.

I've removed Defensewall and am using Sandboxie at the moment. If this problem can be explained, I'll reinstall it in a minute.

 

It could be in case if, by some reason, DW have detected that dll created by untrusted processes is loaded into its processes. This makes trusted DW's process untrusted and, thus, locks from access to untrusted applications list. Next time, when it will happends, just close DW's process with "Exit" context menu item and run again manually. Then send me DW's log file (defensewall_log.log) compressed I could determine the reasons of this.

 

Thank you, Ilya. I will re-install DefenseWall and try it again. All I can tell you at this point is that I did nothing, other than add a couple of programs to untrusted.

I did exit and restart Defensewall a couple of times, as well as reboot once or twice. The untrusted programs were just gone. Out of curiosity, I removed AOL avs from my computer and tried another, since I read somewhere that DefenseWall could conflict with Kaspersky. Still had the problem.

I also had another problem that began about the same time. When I typed a message, the letters weren't showing on the screen immediately. There was as much as a one second delay. Never had that happen before either. I thought that could be a DefenseWall problem as well, but after uninstalling DefenseWall and removing all traces, the situation continued. It turned out to be Firefox 2 which was causing that trouble. As soon as I took Firefox off my computer, the trouble stopped.

I will re-install DefenseWall right now and see what happens. I'm starting to think Firefox 2 might be the culprit.

 

DefenseWall v1.73 is released. The problem with FireFox 2.0 is solved.

I saw new DW, but DW 1.73 still slow down my FF2.0

 

Same here - it still seems to have a massive impact

 

I'm not finding a problem with the download speed but with my mouse.

Sometimes there is a very annoying lag when going up and down bookmarks, or clicking a link. It can be like count to two. Very intermittent.

The sessionstores have gone.

I've uninstalled it for now.

Love the idea but I don't want anything getting in the way of my browsing experience.
