My Nvidia raid is totally sucking. It's just not up to the performance of my older Sis RAID (or what ever it was called)on another board. Maybe something is going wrong with one of the drives, I don't know. Anyway...

2 Raptor74k drives I want to use just one drive. I removed a bunch of stuff cleaned up the system and got down to just 27 gigs usage. backed it all up to the Acronis safe zone, disabled RAID, removed one drive and arranged the bios boot for 1 Raptor. The restore when fine, rebooted and got the error "Your bios is not ACPI ready", or something like that. I disabled the ACPI and still no go, it would just hang. Tried it 6 different times swapping drives, nothing would work not even safe mode, I would only let it hang no more then 5 minutes.
I put everything back the way it was, enabled raid, restored, now I am here typing this problem for someone to help me out.
Is it possible to go from raid to non-raid? I just ordered a 500gig PATA drive yesterday so I can get rid of RAID for good and have more space. I feel I will run into this same problem.

HELPo_O New drive will be here Wednesday.

    Hi!

did you try and do a recovery with Windows XP CD?

Normally to go from Raid to non raid you should need Universal Restore on True Image Workstation.

    Good luck!

Well I sort of got it to work. I used my backup to restore to another drive, it worked perfect using it to type this now. But what I want to do is copy Windows to one of the WD74 10,000 rpm drives and I still can't get it to boot. I tried both drives. Installed in my PC both drives are seen by windows, I formated both of them and can write to them. When I tired to Clone Disk in windows I get an error when Acronis attempts to Clone and stops. When in the Acronis boot mode it Clones just fine but I keep getting the BSOD. BSOD telling me my system is not ACPI compliant. But of course it is.
Could both WD740 Raptors be bad? o_O
Is this why I was getting terrible write and read performance o_O
Do I have to do something special to RAID drives to get them to work independently to boot Windows o_O o_O

My next course is to install a fresh copy of Windows onto a Raptor drive. That should work? I haven't tried Snap Restore yet.
