NOD32 Effective

I have NOD and it seems to be really not there to me. I don't know why though. Am I jsut a safe surfer?

 

What exactly do you mean ?

Do you have / Have you ever had any issues with NOD32 / ESET ?

 

he means it has never ever found anything, so he is curious to know if its working? and if its really effective when surfing the internet.

I have ran NOD32 for about 6 months and it went red when I tried to access a web site once. That's about it.

 

hi just wanted to say when I had nod32 I got infected however I had version 2.5.I also know it gets great reviews. I myself just do not like it. now saying that i do not want to start a way with eset users, i do like avg better for me personnaly. please do not beat me up for posting my opinon thanks.

 

You can test NOD32 by using the test virus located at
http://www.nod32sse.com/ under 'AV test file'.

This will test the IMON component (Internet Monitor). If you have IMON
configured to block infections automatically (automatically deny download of file), the infection will appear in the Threat Log.

Even safe surfers can get hit by a nasty from emails, CD/DVDs, websites etc.
The safest way of testing if your AV is actually there and working, is to do a simple eicar test.

 

yes but eny av that cant detect the eicar test virus isnt worth much at all there has to be something else that will let you know.just for the peace of mind...

IMHO it is a harmles bat file which no one should detect. As it is, with no further details available, it is a clear false possitive.

 

You are entirely correct. At the very worst it will upgrade your PC into a small heater for use just in the cold winter months.

I've been using NOD32 for a year, but last week Trojan Hunter on a manual scan detected a trojan, so I removed NOD32 and installed a trial version of Kaspersky which slowed my system down so much that it wasn't worth the higher detection rates.

I've since installed NOD32 2.7 and will use KAV for manual scans only. Perhaps the best of both worlds. I don't think NOD32 has the very highest detection but nothing else that runs as light does better. It's a trade off.

 

antivir,and dr.web are both very light and antivir has better detection rates than nod32...

 

Remember this is a NOD32 support forum. The statement you've made is very questionable, I could support my opposite opinion by a bunch of arguments. The fact is that no AV detects 100% of all threats and what one detects the other may miss it and vice-versa. Please refrain from making such statements here and rather refer to prestigious official tests performed by Virus Bulletin or www.av-comparatives.org

 

NOD is very effective indeed, when malware see it (or maybe feel) they keep a very very large distance from your PC

 

I've used just about every AV out there... The majority of the time I have used Nod32 though. I once uninstalled it and used a variety of other AVs (including AntiVir and Kaspersky [Which slowed/disconnected my internet and conflicted with my firewall]. AntiVir however was good, had no problems with it, it just didn't suit my personal tastes/preferences) just to see if they picked up anything that Nod32 didn't. Guess what? They all came up clean. So to me Nod32 does its job. And I have no doubts about that.

No matter what AV you use, they're not going to offer 100% protection.
