    Gaz,
Do you use DrWeb? If so, it's false alarm. Just exclude it, as you've already done.

If I download the new version of spywareblaster will it automatically override the old version on my computer or do I need to uninstall the old version? Thanks.

    Hi matt,

You can install over the old version, as long as it is not running.

    Regards,

    Pieter

I don't know enough about it yet to comment on performance. :)

  8. I tried three times to download 2.6.1 to my hard drive for virus scan before installation. At sites 1 and 2 nothing happened. At site 3 I got a message about bandwidth problems.

Reluctantly, I tried a direct install from your web site. I got a message that the file had no authentication, so I aborted.

Sorry, I can't try SpywareBlaster under those circumstances.

    Hi LowWaterMark,
I forgot to come back here when I updated SpyWareBlaster. I got my items in red and it worked flawlessly.
    It is a great program!
    Sincerely, Libra

Ah, very good Libra. I guess it was just a fluke.

I'm glad it's working properly for you! :)

    Hi mlsmls,

See item #1 in this post regarding Error Code 5. It is caused by files being locked while trying to upgrade. Reboot your system, then run the newly downloaded install kit without opening SpywareBlaster first.

SpywareBlaster Troubleshooting and Tips & Tricks

    Hi spydespiser,

SpywareBlaster works by setting flags in the registry that disable spyware related ActiveX controls, so, you won't actually get warning messages from it when spyware that it blocks is hit. It'll just be blocked silently.

I just installed spywareblaster and spywareguard. They seem to be very good programs. I see that a lot of the members here seem to like them pretty well. I think I am going to be happy with them to. Thank you javacool

Hi. Just saw your question (rather old) without replies in the forum.

Of course, if you're making a software manual for printing or something alike, a more "professional" screen capturer will be a must, but for this kind of "petty" screen capture job, I use "Capture" from Analog-X.

The program is 212 kb only... user-friendly, simple to use, no adjustments. Just a click (or a configurable hot-key combination) and a picture (of the whole desktop or active window -- also configurable) is automatically generated in .bmp format, ca. 2Mb, which can be easily shrinked into jpeg or gif (from 2 to 10 kb, the choice is yours).

    http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/system/capture.htm

A look at other useful geeks in Analog-X is worth the click. All freeware... All around 200 kb...

You don't need a program to take a screen capture, you just need one to save the pic like IrfanView. You could just hit the Print Screen key to take picture of the entire desktop & Alt + Print Screen for the active window. Then open IrfanView or whatever image program you use, paste the pic in it & save it.

    UhO!

The 'Block Flash' option doesn't seem to work for Flash 7.

    Any ideas?

It should...Flash 7 seems to use the same CLSID.

Could you try checking and unchecking a few times, and then leaving it checked?

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Best regards,

This seems it might be a likely place to post this question. Forgive me if it has been discussed elsewhere.

Is there any chance of adding a 'search' funtion or an 'alphabetize' button to Spyware Blaster? I'm looking for a method to quickly search this valuable data base.

Edit: I now know to right click on the data base. Thanks to javacool for a great utility. :)
