It has built in rules for that, so u will hardly get any pop ups. It will automatically allow safe operations like reading, hramless writing etc at the same time stopping unsafe actions like reading confidential/ sensitive folders( u will get pop up here), writing to system core areas( blocked without pop ups). That is the purpose of advanced rules in GW.

That *test* does not fully disclose its test bed nor its methodology.

For test results done by a professional tester, I recommend you read AV-Comparative's recent report on tests of HIPS -- it includes GesWall & several other sandbox apps discussed in posts above. To obtain a copy of AV-C's pdf report of those tests...

    +Goto http://www.av-comparatives.org/

+Click "Comparatives" in left-side column (gets new page)

+Scroll four-fifths down the page until you see line entitled "Comparative of various protection tools." On that line, click "Report (PDF)"

In AV-C's test, please notice that test bed and methodology are clearly revealed. In my opinion, those are the distinguishing marks of a reliable test.

    OT: About Sandboxie.

I was on their web site reading about the program and decided to give it a try.

The problem I'm having is when you close Sandboxie there is a pop up box that appears, Sandboxie Quick Recovery-Default Box.
You have the option of recovering files but I don't if its safe to click either yes or no, I just leave it alone, I'm not sure what to do.
Also is there a way to stop that Quick Recovery box from popping up every time you close Sandboxie?

Ian Richards, the editor at Support Alert Newsletter, put the different security sandboxing products through a number of tests and found only one that passed all his tests (GreenBorder).

    http://www.techsupportalert.com/security_virtualization.htm

I'm using it and I like it enough to recommend it.

So far, this newest version of Bufferzone Home is SMOOTH. I've only noticed 2 things. Bootup takes slightly longer and the intial opening of programs - e.g. - Firefox, takes longer. I can shutdown Firefox and open it again and it's back to normal opening speed. No drain on resourses and absolutely no slowdown on Surfing. Now, i just need to test it out. Any suggestions?. Also anyone (aigle) with knowledge of 'Bad Sites', could you P.M. the links to me.

    Thanks.

I thank you Sir. A very good read. I highly recommend it to all considering this type of protection.

    Which tests?

No, you are wrong. Sandboxie is designed to show [#] ... [#] for other programs too.
You can't see the [#] ... [#] because you haven't sandboxed the executable application (which opens the file).
    See the attached image.

Does anybody know if any of these programs work with America Online 9.0 and Microsoft Office 2007, I just downloaded and am testing greenborder pro, i like the idea of the green outline being there to tell me it is working but they dont seem to be compatible with greenborder.

    Thanks,
    Billy
