Very low restore performance in Rescue mode from usb-drive

let me describe my problem:
I have the following harddrive-configuration:

RAID0

C: 195 GB - 63 GB used
D: 270 GB - 59 GB used

my usb-drive: Western Digital WD 2500BB Essantial

In windows, it took 1 hour and 30 minutes to create an image of the whole disk (C,D,MBR) onto the usb-drive.

Restoring the whole disk in ATI Rescue-mode (with the latest German build) took 6 hours (!!). This is very strange, because reading from usb-drives is usually faster than writing.

So I think it's a linux-driver problem, but I have a very popular chipset, the Intel 925x Express with the 82801FB/FBM USB-Controller.


Also I have to say, that the Logitech G5 laser mouse isn't supported yet. I have report this some time ago in this forum, but it isn't fixed in the new builds. I still have no mouse control in Rescue mode - I must do it all by keyboard.

I. Regarding the slow backup restoration speed, first of all, please make sure that you are using the Bootable Rescue CD created with the latest build (3694) of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home German which is available for downloading in the Product Updates section of your account at Acronis web site.

You can find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About... menu in the main program window.

To get access to updates you should create an account then log in and use your serial number to register the software.

If the problem persists with the Bootable Rescue CD created using the latest build (3694) of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home German then please try booting with the "acpi=off noapic" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

If booting with the "acpi=off noapic" parameter does not help then please try the following tips in order to solve the problem that you experience:

- If your external USB hard drive is connected to the computer through a HUB, please try connecting it directly;

- If it is connected directly, please try using a different USB port.

If the above does not help either, please create Acronis Report and Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Please keep you external USB hard drive connected (and powered on) while creating Acronis Report and Linux system information.

Note that sometimes the sysinfo.txt file is not readable under Windows. In this case please try entering the file name using capital letters (SYSINFO.TXT) or follow the instructions provided in this previous post of mine.

If you do not have a floppy drive then please take a look at this previous post of mine explaining how to save the sysinfo.txt file to a USB flash drive.

Then please submit a request for technical support. Provide the files and information collected in your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

II. If the issue with the Logitech G5 mouse still persists with the Bootable Rescue CD created using the latest build (3694) of Acronis True Image 9.0 Home German, please try booting with the "usbmouse=off" parameter as it is described in Acronis Help Post (use "usbmouse=off" instead of "acpi=off noapic").

If booting with the "usbmouse=off" parameter does not help, please create Linux system information (sysinfo.txt) as it is described in Acronis Help Post.

Then please submit a request for technical support. Provide the files and information collected in your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

P.S. Please also note that a possible workaround for both these problems is to use a BartPE-based bootable CD created using Acronis True Image plug-in for BartPE and allowing one to boot the computer into a Windows-like environment loading the appropriate drivers for any hardware devices installed in the computer at startup.

Acronis True Image plug-in for BartPE comes with the Acronis True Image installation and can be found in the
\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome\BartPE folder.

OK, I have contacted Acronis German Support on last sunday, but I haven't received any answer yet.

By the way, I also tried to use BartPE, and I have managed it to include my Intel SATA-RAID drivers. So I can access my internal hard drive in BartPE.
But it isn't possible to access the USB drive, neither by switching it on when BartPE has loaded, nor by switching it on before it boots.

So I think that the USB storage driver is also missing, but I don't have any idea how to add them. Shall I try to copy the whole chipset driver to the "Drivers"-folder of PEBuilder? How to add the Windows XP USB-storage-driver?

I always thought, that your support is so fast, but I still haven't received an answer yet.
I attached everything you wanted, Acronis Report and the Linux system information.

 

I'm seeing this level of slow performance also on TI10. It takes about 1.5 / 2 hours to to a backup and 8+ hours to restore from an external NTFS-formatted USB2.0 HDD. My machine has 400gb of HDD space, of which 100gb is used.

I've done this type of backup and restore before using TI8 on a machine with much the same configuration (in fact, that HDDs in this machine are the same drives as those in the other). The difference was that I backed up to a network drive (Buffalo Linkstation). It was *much* faster, around 30 mins each for backup and restore.
