Just noticed on MajorGeeks that there is a new Filseclab version 3 released. For anyone interested, here's a link (see the download page):

    http://www.filseclab.com/eng/products/firewall.htm

Edit: Hmmm.. on closer inspection of the download page it looks like an older release date. So this may be a bad post. Sorry folks.. Please ignore if it's old.. I'm not sure at this point..

I've tried this, it works OK, but conflicts with SpiderMail if you have Dr.Web or Virus Chaser installed. Its a bit heavy on resources, and I would say that there are better firewall products out there than this one.

I can confirm that V3 has been out for some time. Oddly in my experience this is one of the lightest firewalls on resources and the one that causes me least grief with other applications.

Indeed. V3 has been out for 1 year, although the firewall was "updated" on Softpedia today as well, for some reason.

If you have SpIDer Mail LSP settings may be altered when you install/deinstall Filseclab.

    LSP? o_O

I use Virus Chaser, not Dr.Web, hence there is no way to individually configure the SpiderMail client. So what should I do?

I think the easiest way is to remove and reinstall SpIDerMail (or Virus Chaser)
If it doesn't help, perhaps you will have to fix the registry somehow.

Tell me, I can figure that SpiderMail LSP settings may be changed by Filseclab Personal Firewall on installation, but why would it change Spidermail LSP on uninstallation as well? o_O

Maybe InstallShield causes errors? I don't know.
I installed/reinstalled a few times on 5 PCs but the problem did not always occur.

Sorry, it didn't work out. In fact, Filseclab Firewall wouldn't allow me to get net access while Virus Chaser was installed! :(

    Reboot is necessary.

Yeah this version has been out for a while. Its a pretty good firewall imo. Nice and light and does its job well. It even has privacy protection although i'm not too sure how effective it is. A good option for those looking for a freeware firewall.

Acording to the website, there are two versions of the firewall. The Pro (version 3) and Standard (version 2.5) editions.

    http://www.filseclab.com/eng/download/downloads.htm
One is 4.04 and the other is 2.28 MB in size. Does anyone know what is the functional difference between the two versions? Since both are free and run on all versions of Windows, why are there two editions? o_O

Thanks for the link. It seems that a lot of firewalls are getting bigger due to antispyware capabilites.

This is one of the few unheralded yet excellent light weight firewalls out there that do their job quite well and its free as well.

Hmm, just wondering. People say this firewall is good, but it's results on Firewall Leaktester aren't that good. What's the truth?

Some here deem leaktests as significant, some think they are overrated.
If you're running a decent HIPS app, generally your leaktest protection is greatly increased.
My 2 cents from a previous post:
