IE7 for windows experience so far?

I notice that I am informed via auto updates that IE7 is ready to install.

I always hate to be among the first, as I do not have much expertise if things go amiss.
What is the experience thus far?

I have used the beta since it came out and it worked just fine, and I now have the final release and what little I use IE it seems to be quite an improvement over ver.6 I would recommend it.

Hi Jerry,

I upgraded to IE7 final, from IE6.

1. Some web sites won't work!
2. IE7 will not allow permanent placement of 3rd party toolbars (google, snag-it, etc) you put them wher you want them, next time you log on, there somewhere else!
3. I use CCleaner if "index.dat" is ticked, log in info will be lost, not so in IE6

I have come across a few sites that do not work with IE7 that I used IE6 to access instead of FF or Opera. The really annoying ones are the ones that say "This site only works with Internet Explorer 6 and above" and then tell me to download IE6.

I may just hold off on the update. I think I have the option to refuse it now, and get it later with an update. Anyone know if this is correct?

My advice is to not be in a hurry. IMO, for the average PC user, it's no safer than IE6. (Yes, it has the phishing filter but that is information, not protection. )

As for bugs... after installing IE7, my default browser icon links are not always showing up correctly. I have also read of others having icon issues after IE7. Beyond that, it does work ok.

On a personal preference perspective, I loathe the interface. And at this point, the ability to customize it is fairly limited...

no problems with it here. been using it since the day it was released. my favorite improvement is how you can scroll up and down your favorites with your mouse's scroll wheel. also, you can chose a few pages to open in their own tabs as your home pages when you first open ie.

 

If I d/l and install IE7, then decided I don't like it, does simply uninstalling it revert me back to IE6?
