I uninstalled Norton AV 3 years ago, and just discovered several folders from Symantec. I deleated all of them.

I was sure somewhere on this board I saw instructions for completing the uninstall of Norton AV, but I can't find it. Any hints?

Then I will need the latest list of how to uninstall McAfee AV.

    THEN I can install Nod32.

    Thanks.

Here is McAfee stuff about completely removing McAfee
    http://forums.mcafeehelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=71943

Note that McAfee usually removes without problems so you can use them only if you encourage problems removing McAfee .

Symantec new versions have impoved their install/uninstall ability and less errors occure but you should use their removal tool , just in case
    For Symantec version 2003 - 2007

If you install NOD32 , you can have a look at Blackspear's tutorial and configure on maximum protection ;)

The above URL for the free trial download of Nod32 does not work. It says "The Page Cannot Be Found or I am not authorized".

    Any other suggestions?

Thanks Ron. Got it! And scanned it for viruses with McAfee :doubt: and it passed. Now I am ready to uninstall all the old junk, and start with the new.

The Norton AV uninstall tool still leaves a few errant registry entries around. A search of the registry for Norton and Symantec then a quick delete does the trick.

Somehow I figured it wouldn't be all easy and smooth going. That is Norton for you. Thanks.
