Ok, this is getting annoying. The nag screen that asks whether you want to continue with the trial or purchase, is taking a very long time to load. I have to sit there and wait until the GUI appears in the nag screen before I can go to any web page. Any one else having this problem?

Yes, it is a feature for trial BG. It should not take long to load though.

I wait with 10 seconds more than usually since I installed BullGuard. I really like it, so I think I'm going to buy it. Is better than BitDefender because when it finds a virus infiltration in memory it also deletes it. Not like BitDefender which tells you that it found a virus but can't rename it because it is resident in memory :)). But the BitDefenders engines don't compare with any other. Not even with Kasperskys ones. Its heuristic is greater than Kasperkys one.

Are you sure about this? can't find anything on the website..

I have been trialling this, runs brilliantly.

If it does use an http scanner and the new heuristics i think a subscription is in order...!

I think I'm going to do an uninstall/reinstall of the Bullguard trial, to see if that helps. I don't remember it taking that long when I first installed. it. I hope this works, because I really like Bullguard.

    Graystoke,

That is annoying but I have subscribed to this product and on startup I really don't notice it loading at all. I also changed the update setting to every hour and it does update definitions sometimes several times a day. I will install it also on my wife's computer and this is another plus, license for 3 computers. I really am enjoying this product and hope it works out for you and others.

Technic, thanks for the link above.

The uninstall/reinstall seems to have helped. I'll do some re-boots again later tonight and again tomorrow. I hope things work out. I really this suite. :)

Yes I am very sure. I specially talked with a BullGuard online representative and asked him these two questions. His answer was YES for both of them.

This is only a part of what I talked to him:
    Code:
[...](10/15/06 18:42:42):Does BullGuard use BitDefenders B-Have heuristic scan engine and can it scan HTTP traffic?
[B][***] (10/15/06 18:44:03):BullGuard indeed uses the heuristic scan engine from Bitdefender and it scans http traffic.
    [/B]

Do I have any reason to use Counter Spy (very cheap now, halloween discount) with BullGuard and Prevx1? My computer have resources to run all of those 3 in realtime. I have ewido anti-spyware micro scanner on-demand.

Have anybody successfully enabled spamfilter with unsupported mail client?

A post earlier in this thread says they are working on having support for other email clients with spamfilter soon. We will see. As to Counterspy, someone else will have to answer that one.

    this forum is biased!
well when i asked them on their online chat.... they said it does NOT have htto scanning.

but when the above posted asked, they said yes it does.

    -------------------------
not a good sign for customer service, someone doesnt know what they are talking about.

    but then again,

[Marius] Hello, welcome to BullGuard Live Support! How may I help you?
[Visitor] hello, can i ask a simple question ... does bullguard 7 have 'http scanning'?
[Marius] You will need to be a bit more specific. If you wish to know if BullGuard scans web addresses which contain infected javascripts, then yes it does check and stop them.

I emailed to them. The final answer is YES! BullGuard can scan pages before being loaded. Not only if they contain infected JS.

I'm beginning to have second thoughts. :( I like the antivirus/firewall portion of Bullguard. I don't use the spam filter, or the backup feature. I backup my stuff on my own. Therefore $60 USD seems a little expensive for just an antivirus and firewall. I don't know what they charge for a yearly subscription renewal.

I'm thinking of going back to using Kerio 4.3 (paid vesion) and maybe NOD32. I'm thinking that maybe that combination is as good as Bullguard's antivirus/firewall combo. Any thoughts on this?

Or maybe you can use NOD32 and Comodo Firewall.

    That's also a possibility. I haven't tried Comodo yet.

Do you guys in Britain get Bullguard cheaper then we do in the U.S. The price here is $59.99 USD. 24.99 Euros is about $37.00 USD if I'm not mistaken. If the price you quote was the price here, I'd feel a lot better about purchasing it. :)

it's £34.99 not £24.99, or 20% off if ordered in 1st 3 days of trial

Or if you are lucky they make a mistake and give you an extra 6 months free like they did with me!
