I was torn between posting this in other anti-trojan software forum or here in other anti-malware software forum. Mods please move if appropriate.

After using a mixture of KAV and NOD on all my home/family PCs I have now pretty much moved completely over to the free version of AntiVir. I have BOClean installed on all home PCs and running alongside NOD or KAV it barely needed to do anything for me. I generally use the free version of SAS as an occasional on demand Spyware scan but now that I am using the free version of AntiVir which doesn’t protect against Spyware or Adware I expect that BOClean might now on occasion get to do it’s stuff. BOClean is an anti-trojan and AntiVir is also strong at detecting Trojans/malware. But is BOClean enough? I’m wondering if I’m leaving myself a gap in my real-time spyware protection by no longer using KAV or NOD?

it depends on what you do... do you usually go to pr0n/crack sites? download and test lots of softwares?

If you're gonna buy Boclean you might wanna just buy Antivir Premium IMO.

well, if it's good enough for me. I feel good about recommending it to you. I certainly think so as it is exactly my combination. ;)

q1aqza, i can confirm you from my experience of running BOClean first with Antivir free, then Antivir Premium for a while and now Avast that the combination is more than adequate to take care of major and minor malware; proof of it is in the Spybot & AdAware & Superantispyware scans:
they are jobless since and Spybot once in a while -just in order to justify its existence- finds that the windows Security Center is taken over by some malware (FP) because i have it disabled.
I rate Boclean my second most important program ...after the OS,of course.

I think a few mis-understood. I already have BOClean for the past 15 months but have always ran it alongside KAV or NOD and it hasn't had to do much. No that I am using the free version of AntiVir I was wondering if BOClean was enough to make up for the difference between AntiVir free and the Premium version.

My email provider takes care of the email scanning and I'm more than knowledgable enough not to open any attachments without due care.

I guess proof of the pudding is in the eating so I'll just see how I get on using these two together.

it is better to install it since you wouldn't even feel it being there...

boclean is so light... set it and forget it...
